The Angel Project is on our way to their poor animal.

According to concerned citizens, the owner has not been home for two weeks. Left the dog chained to the pole with no access to water and food.

We have no words....😢

Let this be a warning to the owners of dogs in Matzikama who are chaining their animals.

Although the outdated by-laws of Matzikama do not forbid, chaining, hard pill to swallow for us in rescue, the bylaws are clear, the dog has to have a suitable collar around the neck and the chain has to be long enough to allow freedom of movement.

Our new updated by-laws cannot come quick enough!

Beautiful Nova and her 9 puppies ❤️🐾

We have a full line up of animals at our local shelter that have appointments at the Vredendal Dierehospitaal / Animal Hospital that the Angel Project will be covering the costs.

1. - 22 June - Nova and her nine puppies for their first vaccinations and deworming

2. - 22 June - Bessie and Tessie's pups... Butterfly, Joy and Buddy - second puppy vaccinations

3. - 23 June - Susan - Sterilisation and vacs

4. 30 June - Jumper - eye surgery

5. 02 July Bessie and Tessie - Sterilisation and vacs

6. 09 July Nova - Sterilisation and vacs

7. Vlekkie - Sterilisation and vacs

8. Cookie - Sterilation and vacs, appointment to be made

That does not of course include the other nearly 50 animals that will be seen at the vet this month, mostly for Sterilisation through the Angel Project.

We are completely stretched financially at the moment and the need is so great.

Please consider donating towards our vet account, we can't do this without you.

The animals at the shelter have to be Sterilised and vaccinated before they go to new homes, we are doing our best to cover all the Matzikama Animal Care & Welfare NPC shelter animals and the many animals on our outreach programme.

Matzikama means place of 💦 water.

Although we swung between floods a month ago to about no water today.

Please take note of the critical shortage of water in Vredendal and Vanrynsdorp.

The taps are about to run dry if we don't conserve the little that is left.

Pepper is still missing 😔

There has been an incredible amount of people searching for Pepper on Table Mountain daily. I am on their WhatsApp group and it is just unbelievable how people have come together to bring Pepper home. But they need more people. People who know the trails and who are fit.

🛑We need an urgent foster for this beautiful girl.

She has been attacked and her tail removed at the base of her spine. Our vet, Dr Chris says she is ready to go to a foster and a decision will be made in the future if he will operate.

We have shared the photo of this beautiful girl all over, yet her owner has not come forward.

The shelter is full and she will need a cozy home with a warm soft bed to allow her to recover mentally and physically.

All food and any further veterinary care will be provided by the Angel Project.

🛑 We are still searching for the owners of this beautiful dog.

The dog was uplifted by the Angel Project on Tuesday, 16 June from outside of Onse Kaia Shelter on the corner of Chrech Street and Sarel Cilliers Street, Vredendal Noord.

The dog had its tail missing, hacked off at the base of the spine.

The dog is currently with our vet and we would like to find the owner.

Somebody must recognise this dog?
Somebody must know that their dog is missing?!

Some good news to end the week on!

OneDayOnly.co.za will remove electric shock collars from its shelves after we raised concerns about this inhumane device.

Shock collars work by causing a dog pain, and they teach nothing, because a dog does not link the shock to a behaviour like barking or digging.

There is a kinder way that actually works. Rewarding good behaviour builds a calmer, happier dog and a relationship based on trust rather than fear.

Every product like this that comes off a shelf is one less way for an animal to be hurt.

Mamma has spent nearly 8 months at our local shelter.

We have brought you her story, how all her pups got adopted and no one has adopted her.

How this beautiful dog shut down and was so depressed that she no longer ran to the gate when visitors arrived.

We wept silently inside when we witnessed this.

That has all changed, through regular volunteers walking her daily. She has a new lease on life. She's excited again, excited to walk and excited to see her favourite volunteer, Corney arrived to walk her.

Thank you to Corney for sharing this video with us this morning, we can't believe this is the same dog we met a couple of weeks ago.

Mamma is soft, gentle, no fuss type of dog. All she wants is a home, love and lots of walks.

Please share far and wide, let's get her out of the shelter and into a loving home.

From a heavy ⛓️‍💥 chain to freedom..

We named her Selina ❤️🐾

This dog together with her puppies and another dog were rescued, tomorrow, it would be two weeks ago.

We were called in by Law Enforcement to assist.

I don't think any of us will forget the terrible scenes of distressed dogs lunging forward with the heaviest chains we have ever seen. Dogs that were so traumatised and the rescue was very challenging.

Love conquers all ❤️🐾

After 13 days of gentle care and lots of love and patience......look at Selina today. Walking like the true Queen that she is.

For the safety of the animals, they are being kept at an undisclosed location. A very special thank you to the two people that have been working daily with the dogs, the results speak for themselves.
