πŸ’™πŸ‘§πŸ‘¦

The Franschhoek Valley Community Sport Centre believes in providing a safe space where children can play, express themselves, learn and grow while having fun.

As part of Child Protection Awareness, we hosted a fun sports day for preschool learners, giving them an opportunity to enjoy games, build friendships and simply be children. The day was filled with laughter, excitement and smiles.

As they left, many of the little voices could be heard saying, "Thank you, Sport Centre, we had so much fun!" Moments like these remind us why creating safe spaces for children is so important.

These young learners are the future leaders of our communities, and it is our collective responsibility to protect, support and nurture them.

Let us continue to keep children safe, listen to their voices and create environments where they can thrive.

An opportunity we never take for granted and one we will never stop appreciating! Since 2023, Rickety Bridge Estate has opened its doors to the Franschhoek Valley Community Sport Centre for this special annual experience.

This year, on Workers’ Day (1 May), Rickety Bridge once again welcomed approximately 165 FVCSC participants, parents, YeBoneers and staff members for the Freedom Day parkrun experience at 06:00 in the morning.

For many of our participants, this trail experience is something rare and unforgettable. The hospitality, care and warmth we receive from Rickety Bridge always makes the day extra special! THANK YOU for creating a real bridge between communities and for giving our participants a space to dream, connect with nature and create lasting memories!!

It was also inspiring to be welcomed by young people who once grew up at the Centre - and are now working on the estate That is true inspiration and growth!!

Thank you, Rickety Bridge, for always walking this journey with us!πŸ’

Our dear friend, Wendy Bowley, continues to make it an annual tradition to educate and create awareness about autism at the Franschhoek Valley Community Sport Centre.

At the end of last month, our YeBoneers and staff members took part in an informative session where they learned more about autism, asked important questions and gained better understanding. Wendy helped bring clarity and awareness through open and honest conversations.

One of the key discussions highlighted the need for more awareness, support and safe spaces for children living with autism.

Let us continue to respect, love and show kindness to everyone! Autism is real, and understanding it helps us build more inclusive communities.

Thank you, Wendy, for continuing to educate and inspire others! πŸ’™

⚽ Not the Results We Were Looking For

This past weekend was a tough one for FVCSC FC... but it was also a chance to learn, grow and come back stronger.

Junior Match Results:
* U/11 FVCSC 0 - 2 Loxion Stars
* U/13 FVCSC 3 - 0 Loxion Stars
* U/15 FVCSC 0 - 1 Loxion Stars
* U/17 FVCSC 1 - 1 Loxion Stars

Senior Reserve Team:
* FVCSC F.C. 0 - 1 Loxion Stars
* FVCSC F.C. 2 - 2 Lanquedoc United

Senior Team – Promo League:
* FVCSC F.C. / Inter Stellenbosch 3 - 1 Franschhoek Valley
* FVCSC / Inter Stellenbosch 0 - 9 Training 4 Changes

β€œNot the results we were looking for in our divisions, Coach Sikho shared, "However, we will go back to the drawing board and improve where we lacked. We are not a bad team at all. And we can be happy that our senior team got the derby bragging rights after coming from behind to beat Franschhoek Valley 3-1. That was the highlight of the weekend.”

Well done to the Under 13 team and our senior squad for their positive results. The work continues, and we keep pushing forward together!πŸ’ͺ🏽⚽
