🇺🇸 This morning Combat Veteran Mark Martinez shared several profound things that we should all take time to pause and reflect on. The freedoms we enjoy, even the freedom to protest, disagree, and speak openly.. came by way of those who paid the ultimate price.

Mark, a Yuma City Councilman, retired Sheriff’s Captain, and Salvation Army Board Member, stated that of all the hats he’s worn and roles he’s carried, “Veteran” has been his most cherished 🇺🇸🎖️

As he spoke about those who gave everything, you could hear the emotion in his voice and the tears being held back as he remembered the men and women who stood beside him and never made it home. He called us to never forget their legacy or take lightly the freedoms we enjoy today.

Memorial Day is not just about barbecues, sales, or a day off. It is a day of remembrance. ❤️🤍💙

🔕🤫 At 3:PM today our community will commit to a momment of silence. 🙏

Today wreaths were thrown from the Ocean to Ocean Bridge in honor and remembrance of the fallen. 🌊🌺

🔥 Pentecost Weekend at the Yuma Corps has been nothing short of HOLY FIRE! 🔥🕊️❤️

What began with our incredible United Meeting with our brothers and sisters from Mexicali Corps and Imperial Valley Corps continued today as we celebrated Pentecost Sunday together — seeking not just a memory of Acts 2, but a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon His people! 🙌🔥

We were blessed once again by Colonel Olin Hogan, who continued preaching through 2 Timothy with a powerful and challenging word to stir up the gift of God, stand unashamed of the Gospel, and remain faithful in the fire. 📖🔥

Today was also filled with Kingdom moments as we gathered for: ❤️ Sunday School and Holiness Meeting
📖 Senior Soldier Exploration & Confirmation Classes
🛡️ Junior Soldier preparation and discipleship
🤝 Celebration of our Graduates 🎓
🙏 Prayer, worship, surrender, and encouragement well into the evening

This weekend has reminded us that the Church is most alive when the Spirit of God moves freely among His people. Different backgrounds. Different languages. One Spirit. One mission. One Savior. 🕊️

Like Acts 2, we have seen worship, unity, testimony, consecration, fellowship, and hearts responding to God. We are praying this is not just an event… but a fresh movement of holiness, mission, and revival in our communities. 🔥

🌾 Harvesting Hope was in full swing yesterday at our Wednesday Harvest Meal! 🍽️❤️

Through the love of Christ and the hands of His people, over 50 individuals were blessed with a delicious homemade meal provided by the Penny and Drysdale families. Dinner included scrumptious Shepherd’s Pie, fresh fruit salad, warm biscuits, and AMAZING homemade cakes for dessert 🍰🥗🥖

At The Salvation Army, we believe ministry happens around tables, through conversations, and by showing the love of Jesus in practical ways. Yesterday was a beautiful picture of a community coming together to share hope, dignity, fellowship, and Christ’s love with one another. 🌱❤️

Thank you to every volunteer, supporter, and servant-hearted family helping us continue Harvesting Hope in Yuma County. The harvest is plentiful! 🌾

🏆🎺 Yuma Youth Are heading to Southern California! and need your help! 🙏 🎉

Last month, our incredible youth won the Southwest Divisional Youth Encore Competition in Mesa in the Jr. Praise Band Category, and now they’ve earned the opportunity to compete at the Territorial Competition in Southern California! 🌟

These young people have been faithfully practicing on Wednesday nights and Sundays, pouring their hearts into worship and growing in both talent and faith. Their instructor has invested countless hours helping guide and encourage them along the way, and their hard work is paying off in a beautiful way. 🙌❤️

We would love to not only help get them to competition, but also surprise them with a trip to Disney while they’re there… because amazingly, none of them have ever been! 🏰✨

Our goal is to raise $3,000 to help make this dream come true for these deserving young people.

We are incredibly grateful to the Howard V. Moore Foundation for blessing The Salvation Army Yuma with a $5,000 grant to help meet needs across Yuma County! ❤️🌾

Howard Moore was a longtime farmer in Dome Valley beginning in 1947, and his legacy continues through a family committed to planting seeds that impact others for generations to come. What a beautiful reminder that a life of hard work, generosity, and compassion can still bear fruit years later. 🌱

Their words deeply resonated with us:

> “There is an inexplicable joy & satisfaction in giving & knowing that you had an impact, that you helped someone.”

That heart perfectly reflects what our Harvesting Hope ministry is all about. 🚐🥪 Through hot meals, sack lunches, food distribution, prayer, and presence, seeds of hope are being planted every single week throughout Yuma County.

Because of generous community partners like the Howard V. Moore Foundation, families will be fed, needs will be met, and hope will continue to grow. 🌽🤝

A huge THANK YOU to First United Methodist Church Yuma for serving alongside us these last two days! ❤️🍽️🥖

From making up a delicious Harvesting Hope Hot Lunch to packing food bags for families and individuals facing hunger, your team served with so much joy, grace, consistency, and love. 🙌🏽✨

Thank you for living that out in such a real and tangible way in our community. It’s a blessing to labor together for the Kingdom and remind people they are seen, valued, and loved in Jesus’ name. ❤️🙏🏽
