What a day of celebration, commitment, and challenge at the Yuma Corps! ✝️ ☝️

Today we had the privilege of enrolling Pam Schinke as our Corps Sergeant-Major, welcoming Michael Sanzone as a Senior Soldier, and receiving Tom Schinke as an Adherent.

Each commitment represents something beautiful: a life surrendered to Christ, a willingness to serve His Church, and a desire to be built up as disciples who make disciples.

Pam's enrollment as Corps Sergeant-Major was especially meaningful. Pam has faithfully served this Corps for multiple years with humility, wisdom, conviction, and grace. She is an organizer, encourager, delegator teacher, prayer warrior, and servant-leader who consistently points people toward Jesus. We are grateful for her willingness to step into this role and for Tom's support as they continue serving together.

Michael's enrollment as a Senior Soldier marks a public declaration of his faith and commitment to the mission of God through The Salvation Army. Tom's enrollment as an Adherent likewise reflects a desire to journey with God's people and grow deeper in faith and service.

The day paired perfectly with our "Built To Last" series as we studied 2 Timothy 4:1-5. Paul's charge to Timothy was not simply to believe, but to remain faithful. To preach the Word. To endure hardship. To do the work of an evangelist. To fulfill the ministry God has entrusted to him.

That same charge echoes through the Church today.

The Kingdom is built by ordinary people who faithfully say "yes" to Jesus day after day. Today we celebrated three such people.

Congratulations Pam, Michael, and Tom. We love you, we support you, and we thank God for the work He continues to do in and through your lives.

Today was a powerful reminder that ministry is never accomplished alone.

As we traveled across Yuma County, we had the privilege of spending time with members of our Advisory Board, community leaders, and faithful donors who continue to invest in the mission of The Salvation Army. Their generosity, wisdom, and passion for serving others are helping transform lives throughout our community.

We heard stories of lives touched through the generosity of FTS Automotive Center and spoke to a new employee who's family was so grateful as they had been served recently through our feeding programs prior to her employment there. We met with EcoEnergy Solutions where Advisory Board members Fernando and (newest) Alma Zavala shared their heart for serving others in Jesus' Name. We witnessed the Moore, Penny, and Drysdale family WHIP up what they do so faithfully, literally serving meals today at our Harvesting Hope Lunch. We also met with Riedel Construction Nieves Riedel and Luisa Arreola to celebrate the impact made this past year together and to discuss future plans and vision for the South County Food Bank.

Throughout the day, Captain Johnathan Herzog and our Donor Relations Director, Sam Morill, listened carefully to each donor and partner, ensuring their intentions, hopes, and passion for this mission continue to be honored and carried forward. As a Yuma native, Sam understands this community deeply, and we are grateful for his leadership and commitment to strengthening these relationships.

To every Advisory Board member, donor, volunteer, and community partner: thank you. Your faithfulness enables us to meet human needs in His name without discrimination and ensures that the mission continues to thrive across Yuma County.

Supporting Yuma County since 1956. What a legacy. What a family. And what a privilege it is to serve alongside each of you.

It Has Been Announced!

With gratitude to God and excitement for what lies ahead, we are pleased to share that newly commsisioned Lieutenants Brenden and Kiara Armendariz have been appointed as the next Corps Officers of The Salvation Army in Yuma and will join the Yuma family beginning July 1st.

"One generation shall commend Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts." — Psalm 145:4

For over 70 years, The Salvation Army has faithfully served the Yuma community, proclaiming the hope of Jesus Christ and meeting human needs in His name. Through many officers, soldiers, volunteers, and community partners, God has continued to write His story in this place.

Over the past five years, it has been the privilege of the Herzogs to play a small role in that legacy. Now, they rejoice knowing that the mission continues through the Armendariz family as they answer God's call to serve this community.

As a Corps family, let us pray for them, encourage them, and welcome them with open arms. The work is not built on any one officer or family, but on Christ, who remains faithful from generation to generation.

We look forward to introducing Lieutenants Armendariz to our community and celebrating the next chapter of ministry in Yuma. May God bless them abundantly as they continue the rich legacy of service, discipleship, and Gospel witness that has marked these seventy years.

Welcome to Yuma, Lieutenants Armendariz! We're excited to see what God will do through your ministry among us.

Yesterday our Yuma Youth stepped out in faith in a big way. They brought their God given talents all the way to The Cerritos Performing Arts Center to worship the Lord in the 2026 Encore Competition and boy did they worship. We are so proud of the hard work they have put in the past year learning, growing, and leading worship at the Corps every first Sunday. They got to see the potential for the future and we can't wait to see the great things God does through them ahead!

🇺🇸 This morning Combat Veteran Mark Martinez shared several profound things that we should all take time to pause and reflect on. The freedoms we enjoy, even the freedom to protest, disagree, and speak openly.. came by way of those who paid the ultimate price.

Mark, a Yuma City Councilman, retired Sheriff’s Captain, and Salvation Army Board Member, stated that of all the hats he’s worn and roles he’s carried, “Veteran” has been his most cherished 🇺🇸🎖️

As he spoke about those who gave everything, you could hear the emotion in his voice and the tears being held back as he remembered the men and women who stood beside him and never made it home. He called us to never forget their legacy or take lightly the freedoms we enjoy today.

Memorial Day is not just about barbecues, sales, or a day off. It is a day of remembrance. ❤️🤍💙

🔕🤫 At 3:PM today our community will commit to a momment of silence. 🙏

Today wreaths were thrown from the Ocean to Ocean Bridge in honor and remembrance of the fallen. 🌊🌺

Thank you brother for your words, your leadership, and your service. We remember. 🇺🇸🙏
