The 3rd Annual It Takes a Village 5k🎗️

One week from today I will walk into the interview room, meet our judges, and take one final shot at becoming Miss Arizona. As I prepare for this, I’m reflecting on my year as Miss Glendale and all of the incredible memories I’ve made.

Without question, this 5k is my proudest achievement. 3 years ago, before I ever won my first title in the , I wrote down a list of goals I wanted to accomplish if I could become a titleholder. On the very top of the page I wrote “Start an annual 5k to help families battling childhood cancer.” I worked so hard to gather sponsors, excite the community, and recruit volunteers- seeing it come to life, year after year is just a testament to the fact that with love, determination, and hard work, anything is possible.

I wanted to share this video with you because I feel like it is the perfect representation of what It Takes a Village stands for. My heart bursts watching the outpouring of love from people all across Arizona, coming together for a cause that will impact the lives of children battling cancer. I know my little brother, James Jr., must be beaming knowing that he is the catalyst to the incredible good that we are doing.

I am so honored to share that since the inception of It Takes a Village, I have been able to donate $20,000 to families across Arizona affected by cancer. I used to think that I was only one person, and that I wasn’t capable of making a difference that would change the world. But because of MY village, we have left an impact to be proud of. An impact that continues to push out a message of hope, love, empathy, and compassion. Together we have left a mark on this world.

My hope as Miss Arizona is to expand this 5k, statewide, and multiply the funds raised to an even larger scale. Because at the end of the day- No One Fights Cancer Alone. 🎗️

The 3rd Annual It Takes a Village 5k is TOMORROW! 🎗️

I am so excited to see everyone at West Wetlands Park in Yuma AZ rallying together to raise money for children battling cancer! This 5k has been my passion project for 3 years now and I’m so honored to be partnering with Hunter's Army, Inc. and AdvoKate Foundation for this very special day! 🎗️

Remember: check in starts at 8, run starts at 9! Bring the whole family for music, food, photo-ops, and raffles! 100% of monies raised go directly to Hunter’s Army and AdvoKATE! 🎗️

📍 Where is the event?
West Wetlands Park in Yuma, AZ! There will be cones and directions to help you get to the event once in the park!

⏰ When does it start?
Check-in starts at 8 am, and walk/run starts at 9 am! You are welcome to start once you are checked in, OR wait to start with the crowd after purchasing raffle tickets, mingling with friends, and purchasing a snack.

🏃‍♂️ Do I have to run/walk the trail?
NO! We will be selling food, playing music, and have fun activities like a Photo Booth and a bouncy area for small children! You are welcome to purchase a ticket as a donation to our benefitting charities but you do not have to run!

🐶 Can I bring my dog?
Absolutely! Remember that the trail runs along the Colorado River and there may be critters like snakes coming out as the days get warmer, so please be sure to leash your furry friend if you plan to bring them!
