SYN-PO, Sisters of Yuma Non-Profit Organization, was created to to empower women by giving them the tools necessary as a launching pad to their success. It has since evolved into an organization determined to strengthen communities and unite hearts through working alongside other local organizations and entities who envision the same goal of educating and sustaining those in need. This organization has pioneered the following growing list of programs:
Basket Program: A seasonal basket program delivering food and other necessities to families in financial crisis enrolled in public schooling. This program is partly supported by SYN-PO's Pantry where local residents donate food items to be added to this program and local families who have chosen to sponsor a family every season. Blanket Program: A program to deliver warm outerwear to the homeless population in the city of Yuma during the cold winter months. SYN-PO is working with the Crossroad Missions in this ongoing community outreach program to deliver blankets, socks, and other outwear to the homeless community in the streets. Cultural Awareness: A program to unite neighboring communities by educating them about the cultural diversity within the city of Yuma. SYN-PO has had a sustained relationship with the Arizona Western College in delivering seminars every semester and sponsoring events to empower women and celebrate diversity. Future plans are in the making for working with more local organizations who share the same goal of cultural appreciation. Other Events and Activities:
The House of Henna: SYN-PO has also started a business venture as The House of Henna to empower women while celebrating arts and cultural diversity. Relay for Life: SYN-PO can be found creating and selling products and Henna services to fight for a cure for breast cancer in this annual relay.
