ā€œHi, I’m Leslie, and I volunteer in the clothing room.ā€

What began as simply stepping in to help has grown into something deeply meaningful. ā€œI really enjoy the interaction with people—being able to help clothe their families and make life a little easier,ā€ Leslie shares.

At The Salvation Army of York, it’s about more than providing essential items—it’s about connection, compassion, and community. ā€œIt’s such a wonderful organization. Everyone loves the community, and everyone just wants to help.ā€

šŸ’› Volunteers like Leslie are truly at the heart of this mission—serving with kindness and making a difference every single day.

Board Member Spotlight: John A. Klinedinst✨

The Salvation Army means so much to me because I see God’s call reflected in its work. When I think of the scripture, ā€œI was hungry and you gave me something to eat… I was a stranger and you invited me inā€ (Matthew 25:35), I’m reminded of how The Salvation Army truly lives this out every day.

As a board member, I’ve had the opportunity to see firsthand how The Salvation Army cares for individuals and families who are hungry, in need, or hurting—offering compassion, guidance, and practical support. Witnessing the impact of the ā€œdirect to those in needā€ programs and ministries here in York is why The Salvation Army is so close to my heart and why I continue to volunteer and serve in support of its mission.

šŸ’› Volunteer Spotlight: Jenny šŸ’›

ā€œHi, my name is Jenny, and I serve in the clothing room—helping people find the clothes they need and sending them off with a smile and a ā€˜have a blessed day.ā€™ā€
For Jenny, volunteering is about more than lending a hand—it’s finding purpose in a role that fits her abilities. ā€œThis is something I can do, and it makes me feel good,ā€ she shares.

Each day, Jenny helps ensure individuals and families have access to essential clothing, offering not just items, but dignity, care, and kindness.
ā€œIt’s a great place to be.ā€

šŸ’› At The Salvation Army of York, volunteers like Jenny remind us that everyone has something meaningful to give—and every act of service truly makes a difference.

šŸ’› Meet Leyni šŸ’›

At The Salvation Army of York, serving the community is truly a team effort. From supporting the clothing room to helping families with essential needs like gas and electric bills, every staff member and volunteer plays an important role in ensuring no one is left behind.

ā€œWhen other resources may not be available, we step in to provide that extra support.ā€

It’s more than providing services—it’s compassion in action, powered by people who care deeply about their community. Together, we’re meeting needs, restoring hope, and strengthening our community—one neighbor at a time. šŸ’›

šŸ™Œ Volunteer Spotlight: Pat Salemi šŸ™Œ

ā€œWhat keeps me committed to The Salvation Army of York is all the good work they do in our community,ā€ says Pat Salemi, a dedicated volunteer and member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and a proud supporter of the Fabric Fair.

Pat was involved with last year’s coat and toy distribution and saw firsthand just how much The Salvation Army does to support local neighbors in need.
