Monday, October 12

Larry and Fran Armstrong
present:

Texas in April@
Rush Hour on the Migration Highway!

Texas is smack dab in the middle of the Central and Mississippi migratory routes and catches the fringes of the Atlantic and Pacific routes, making it a true highway for bird migration. Some are just passing through and some are nesting and staying in the diversity of woods, wetlands, and shoreline that is Texas.
Join us for a night of testing your bird knowledge (secretly of course!). How many have you seen? How many can you identify? And how many would be "lifers" if you would had only "Gone To Texas?"

7pm at UUCY - free and open to the public

Join us for our first meeting of the fall for Andy McGann and his presentation "Wearables for Wildlife"!

Andy McGann grew up birding in York County, and his early experiences ultimately led to a career in the field of Movement Ecology. His time in academia, non-profits, consulting, and ultimately to a wildlife telemetry tech company spanned a timeframe that saw the science advance from analog radio telemetry to "smart devices" with GPS, accelerometers, and global Internet connectivity. In his career, Andy combined his experiences in ornithology with his love of technology and appreciation for geography in order to help wildlife researchers and organizations around the world obtain the scientific information needed to help conserve some of the rarest birds we have left. Andy will discuss the evolution of the technology, the current state-of-the-art, and paint a picture of where we are going.

Monday, August 17, at 7:00 pm

Join us for a special presentation exploring the inspiring work of Cerulea Environmental Association, a NEW Costa Rican nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting one of the country’s most biodiverse regions. This presentation will highlight how community-driven conservation is safeguarding critical ecosystems while supporting research, education, and sustainable stewardship in the heart of Costa Rica's central caribbean foothills — a place where Cerulean Warblers, endemic plants, rare amphibians, and hundreds of bird species share the same forest.

(the presentation lasts about 35 minutes, with time for questions and answers to follow)

Give Local York is just a few days away! Are you ready?

Give Local York is a non-profit fundraising event that runs from April 30th to May 1st that focuses on community non-profits in the York area. York Audubon Society is proud to be a participant in Give Local York.

York Audubon Society (YAS), as one of over 400 local chapters of the National Audubon Society, and with 600 members in York County, share the vision of a world in which people and wildlife thrive. We protect wild birds and animals and the places they need today and tomorrow.
