On May 12th, the Lower Makefield Seniors hosted their monthly Meet & Greet event, welcoming community members for an engaging and informative afternoon. After a brief business meeting, attendees had the pleasure of hearing from Financial Advisors Liz Luckenbill and Jeff Revak of Edward Jones, accompanied by Dina Bortnichak. Together, they shared valuable insights into their investment philosophy and guidelines.

The presentation covered key topics such as strategy, risk management, diversification, quality investments, long-term planning, and setting realistic expectations. Attendees were also educated about financial fraud, including warning signs or "red flags" that should never be ignored. The discussion even expanded into the realm of cryptocurrency scams and the implications of holding bitcoin in an investment portfolio—an especially timely topic in today’s evolving financial landscape.

Following this enlightening program, participants enjoyed a light lunch and the opportunity to connect with one another. The Lower Makefield Seniors warmly welcome non-members to their Meet & Greet events. If you’re 55 or older and interested in joining future gatherings, please email [email protected] with your full name and phone number.

On April 14, 2024, the Lower Makefield Seniors gathered for their monthly general membership meeting, which featured a heartfelt and inspiring presentation from Fostering Hope. Representing this remarkable organization were Jenae Travia, the Lower Bucks County Chapter Coordinator, and Brian Bovasso, a dedicated volunteer and consultant.

Fostering Hope is a passionate nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth in foster care, nurturing families, and restoring dignity to every child they serve. Their mission goes beyond words—they actively work to reduce barriers to fostering and strive to make transitions smoother and more supportive for children in care. What makes Fostering Hope truly special is that it operates entirely through the commitment of volunteers, embodying community spirit and compassion.

The next Lower Makefield Srs Meet & Greet is scheduled for April 14th at 10 a.m. This month's program will feature a guest speaker from the Bucks County Chapter of Fostering Hope. Fostering Hope is a nonprofit organization composed of all volunteers. Its purpose is to make life better for foster and kinship families (people raising relatives or other children not through the foster system). This past year they became aware of a large group of "grandfamilies" which are grandparents raising their grandchildren, mostly outside of the foster system. FH is ideal for them in that they can offer them clothes, shoes, diapers, toiletries, toys, and even furniture...all for free.

Remember, our monthly Meet & Greets take place on the second Tuesday of each month (excluding July, August, and December) at 10:00 AM in the Lower Makefield Community Center. Each gathering features a brief business meeting followed by an inspiring guest speaker or program, along with a delicious light lunch.

If you're 55+ and would like to attend, please call 267-394-4282 to register leaving your name and phone number. We look forward to seeing you there. For more information, please visit: [Lower Makefield Seniors]https://www.lmt.org/information/seniors/
