We are a 55+ senior group who meet at the Lower Makefield Community Center on 1550 Oxford Valley Road. We have group activities and trips throughout the year.

Our Monthly Meet & Greet is held the second Tuesday of every month, except July and August, at 10:00 am in the New community center

The Lower Makefield Srs. are planning their November 10, 2026 Meet & Greet - "OPERATION MINCEMEAT".

This month's guest speaker, Marilyn Adelman, is from REAP. REAP provides it's members with the opportunity to research an unexplored subject and present a talk based on their in-depth investigation.

Ms. Adelman will present “Operation Mincemeat,” the extraordinary British deception plan that helped disguise the 1943 Allied invasion of Sicily. British intelligence officers placed false documents on the body of Glyndwr Michael, dressed him as a military officer, and arranged for the body to reach German hands. The carefully crafted ruse convinced German leaders that the Allies intended to invade Greece rather than Sicily, helping protect the real operation. This remarkable episode combines espionage, strategy, and human drama. As a delightful footnote, the story has also inspired *Operation Mincemeat*, a musical comedy currently running on Broadway. We hope you will join us for this informative presentation.

Each gathering includes a brief business meeting, an inspiring guest speaker or program, and ends with a delicious light lunch.

On October 22,2026 the LMSrs enjoyed a most wonderful day trip to Jim Thorpe, PA. The day was picture perfect starting with the beginnings of the autumn foliage to the ideal temperatures. One couldn't help but become immersed in the charms of this quaint town. It was a trip that satisfied all the senses.

The next LMS- LnL learning seminar will be held on Thursday, October 29th, (10AM-2PM) with a presentation by the Bucks County Health Improvement Partnership about respiratory viruses. The Lower Makefield Seniors welcomed a record number of attendees to their monthly Meet & Greet on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Following a brief general membership update, members and guests enjoyed an inspiring presentation by Alisa Dupuy, who performed her one-woman show, **“Female Spies of WWII.”** To say the program was entertaining would be an understatement. Ms. Dupuy shared the remarkable stories and backgrounds of women recruited by American and British intelligence agencies, the British Special Operations Executive, and the French Resistance.

These courageous women served in a variety of roles, including cryptanalysts, intelligence coordinators, radio operators, couriers, and rescuers of downed Allied soldiers. Many faced the constant threat of capture, torture, and ex*****on.

Among those featured were Virginia Hall (Goillot), Lily Sergueiew, Nancy Wake, Violet Szabo, and Christine Granville. Ms. Dupuy also highlighted the wartime contributions of more familiar names, including Josephine Baker, Marlene Dietrich, and Julia Child.

Lower Makefield Seniors’ monthly Meet & Greets take place on the second Tuesday of each month, except July, August, and December, at 9:45 a.m. at the Lower Makefield Community Center, 1550 Oxford Valley Road, Yardley, PA. Each gathering includes a brief business meeting, an engaging guest speaker or program, and a delicious light lunch.

The Lower Makefield Srs jumped back into the swing of things with their Fall kick-off Meet & Greet on September 8th. We had a wonderful turn-out of not only regular membership, but several newcomers joined us interested in learning who we are and how we can meet their needs.

This month we had a wonderful presentation from the League of Women Voters who demonstrated how you can check online to see if you are registered to do mail-in voting and staid to help if anyone wanted to check their method of voting or decided they wanted to do mail-in voting. What was continuously stressed is that our (Pennsylvania's) in-person or mail-in voting process is SECURE!!! (Special thank-yous to: Lynne Ferral, Barbara O'Donnell, Jean Weston and Sharon Forte.)

This was followed with a Jeopardy-style fun rendition of “Sing in the Lyric” game, that challenged our memories while brightening our day. This was led by Dave Bailey (Sales Director@The Re*****on of Yardley).

Join the Lower Makefield Seniors for a FREE Lunch & Learn event – “Leaving a Blessing, NOT a Burden” on Thursday, September 17th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Lower Makefield Township Community Center, 1550 Oxford Valley Road, Yardley, PA 19067.

This informative seminar is open to the public. Scott Mitchell, Advanced Planning Counselor with Life Celebration by Givnish, will cover essential topics including:

• Organizing your important documents
• Medicaid and asset protection
• The five-year look back period
• How to leave more to your family – tax free
• Veterans’ benefits
• The advantages of pre-planning your funeral and final expenses

Space is limited, so we encourage registering early. Registration deadline is September 13th.
