One of the leading providers of HIV/AIDS resources for children, youth, and families in Honduras.

Montaña de Luz began in 2001 as a hospice for youth before HIV medication was available in Honduras. Since 2001, MdL has served over 65 children and has become one of the leading providers of HIV resources in the country. Today, in addition to caring for youth impacted by HIV, we visit families in their homes throughout Honduras to determine their medical, psychological, and educational needs. We

believe in combating HIV stigma, strengthening the family structure, and helping youth and families live happy and healthy lives.

We are very proud to share this great news! 🌟 Our Charla Luz team traveled to El Progreso in northern Honduras to provide an interactive presentation on HIV transmission, treatment, and prevention to an audience of medical professionals and community personnel in the region, who in turn can share this invaluable information with their patients and neighbors.

Thanks to their commitment, the regional Ministry of Health awarded them an official recognition for their outstanding work. Please join us in congratulating this dream team for their incredible work in HIV advocacy and education 👏💙

Thank you to our friends at Cityview Church for sharing the last week with us on the mountain! 💙 We are so grateful for this group, their support, and all the beautiful memories made! They devoted their time and talents to repainting our sala (recreation room) and building a brand-new garden for new roots to grow! 🌱 Connecting more friends to MdL’s mission and those affected by HIV is a dream come true, thank you all for helping our mountain of light shine a little brighter! ✨

Please join us in welcoming and congratulating our newest Montaña de Luz team member, John Holzaepfel!

Starting today, John is stepping into a new role as our full-time Development Director. John first became involved with MdL in the spring of 2023 as an intern supporting our Fiesta event. It quickly became clear what an asset he was to our team, and since then he has continued serving MdL part-time as our Grant & Partnership Manager.

As Montaña de Luz continues to grow and expand its impact in Honduras, John will play a key role in advancing that growth and expanding our mission here in the US. He will also help lead and coordinate immersion trips to Honduras, so if you or your organization are interested in visiting MdL, we encourage you to reach out to him at [email protected].

John brings an abundance of positivity, nonprofit experience, and compassion to the MdL family and we are so excited for this new chapter.

We want to extend a huge thank you to Mifflin Presbyterian Church (& friends) for spending the week with us at Montaña de Luz! For years, Mifflin has been a faithful partner of MdL and it was an honor to welcome them back to the mountain.

In addition to helping improve our chapel and welcome sign, this group invested deeply in our community; they met with local partners, learned more about life in Honduras, and shared countless crafts, games, and activities with the youth of MdL.

Thank you for sharing your time, energy, and hearts with the MdL community. We are grateful for your partnership and hope the memories and connections made this week will stay with you for years to come! 🇭🇳

Thank you, Buck-I-Serv! Our team from OSU made it safely home Saturday night after another productive and meaningful week in Honduras. This week, students built a recreational area for the kids to play, as well as re-purposed an old room to make a fun and inviting art museum for the kids to display their creativity.

These students continue to amaze us with their dedication, hard work, and thoughtfulness. Thank you!

Thank you so much for supporting Fiesta 2026! It was a beautiful evening, and our team is so grateful for the generosity you shared with the MdL community. Thank you for the reminder that the youth and families of MdL are held up an incredibly faithful and loving support system. Furthermore, thank you for welcoming staff members Helen Lopez and Fani Mira to Columbus. It was a meaningful evening for us all.

I am beyond proud and grateful to share that we raised $153,000 for Montaña de Luz! These funds will have a life-saving impact on the youth and families we serve. Thank you so much to each person who bid in our silent auction, participated in Bids for Kids, and continues to pray for the health and wellbeing of our brothers and sisters in Honduras.

This night would not have been possible without the support, dedication, and coordination of our Fiesta Committee. A huge thank you to Laura DiFilippo, Angela Jackson, Cathy Morrison, Lynne Roloson, Diana Short and Shannon Smedley.
