Our business of the week is the Woonsocket Education Center!

Located in the heart of downtown Woonsocket, the Woonsocket Education Center is a regional hub for higher education, workforce training, and career development serving northern Rhode Island and the Blackstone Valley.

Managed by the Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, the center brings together colleges and universities, businesses, industry leaders, government agencies, and community organizations to expand access to education and create new pathways to rewarding careers. Since opening in 2022, the center has helped make postsecondary education, professional training, certifications, and workforce development opportunities more accessible to residents close to home.

The center hosts programs and courses from institutions including the Community College of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College, and other educational and workforce partners. Its offerings include college-credit courses, industry-recognized credentials, career training, and specialized workforce programs designed to meet the needs of both students and local employers.

The facility also features modern classrooms, computer lab space, conference rooms, a multi-use room, and the CVS Health Workforce Innovation Talent Center, which provides hands-on training opportunities in high-demand career fields. Businesses and organizations can also utilize the center for meetings, employee training, professional development, and customized educational programs.

More than simply an educational facility, the Woonsocket Education Center represents an investment in the future of the city and the region—connecting people with education, skills, employers, and opportunities while helping strengthen Woonsocket's downtown as a destination for learning, innovation, and economic growth.

This week we are featuring Rob Roy Academy!

Located in the heart of Downtown Woonsocket at 251 Main Street, Rob Roy Academy has been helping students build careers in the beauty and barbering industry for decades. Founded in 1979 by Robert Lapierre and Roy Samra, the Academy grew from their belief that professional education and hands-on experience were essential to developing successful beauty professionals.

Today, the Woonsocket campus provides career training in cosmetology, barbering, and instructor training, combining classroom education with practical, hands-on experience. Students also serve the community through the Academy’s clinic, where services are performed under professional supervision.

As an established educational institution and downtown business, Rob Roy Academy plays an important role in bringing students, customers, and aspiring beauty professionals into Downtown Woonsocket while helping prepare the next generation of skilled professionals.

This week, we're shining a spotlight on Olly's Pizza—a local favorite that's always finding ways to give back to our community.

Every Friday throughout the Levitt AMP Woonsocket Music Series, Olly's generously provided dinner for the volunteers who help made these free concerts possible.

Whether you're craving one of their signature pizzas, a fresh salad, an incredible sandwich, or another delicious meal, we hope you'll stop by and show them some love. When you support businesses like Olly's, you're supporting businesses that invest right back into Woonsocket.

Thank you, Olly's Pizza, for helping make our downtown stronger and our community more connected. We appreciate everything you do!

❤️ Be sure to stop in this week and support a business that truly supports Woonsocket.
