Thundermist Health Center is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center, serving more than 58,000 patients in three Rhode Island communities:

Don't forget! Our community baby showers are returning this year to West Warwick and Woonsocket on these dates:

💙Wednesday, October 28, in West Warwick – 186 Providence St. (Community Room) - 2:30-4:30 p.m.

💜Thursday, November 5, in Woonsocket – 450 Clinton St. (Conference Rooms A/B) - 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Expectant parents who come will receive a goodie bag, enjoy light refreshments, and have a chance to meet and talk with some of our providers and social services staff, as well as many different community partners for support, resources, and giveaways.

In addition, those who come can enter to win raffle prizes, including a baby monitor, crib, and car seat/stroller combo!

The baby showers are free and open to the public. You do not need to be a Thundermist patient to attend. To RSVP, please fill out the form here: https://bit.ly/3TKauZj.

Some adults on Medicaid in Rhode Island will have to meet new federal work requirements starting in January 2027. These upcoming changes may affect your coverage. To find out if work requirements apply to you, please visit StayCovered.RI.gov/Work.

We will continue to share information about these changes and will be helping patients stay enrolled. Stay tuned for additional information about Medicaid info sessions we will host in Woonsocket and West Warwick in November.

We’d like to say congratulations to our very own Dr. Lagina Bickham! Dr. Bickham was inducted as a fellow of the International College of Dentists (ICD) earlier this month at the organization’s USA Section Convocation ceremony in San Antonio, TX.

Earning an ICD fellowship carries profound professional and community significance and being inducted is one of the highest honors a dentist can achieve in their professional career. Fellowship is by invitation only and cannot be applied for directly. In the United States, fewer than 3% of all practicing dentists receive this lifetime distinction.

The ICD is the oldest and largest international honorary dental organization in the world. Induction signifies that a dentist has lived up to the college’s motto: "Recognizing Service as Well as the Opportunity to Serve." Induction is explicitly based on outstanding leadership, meritorious service, and high ethical standards.

Huge congratulations to Dr. Bickham on receiving this honor.💙🎉

It's that time of year again! Autumnfest returns to Woonsocket this weekend, October 9-12. This weekend-long event featues all kinds of family-friendly fun, including artisans, rides, food vendors, live entertainment--even a co****le tournament! Be sure to stop by and enjoy all the festivities in World War II Veterans Memorial Park. 🎃🍂

On Monday, October 12, at 9:30 a.m. the annual Autumnfest Parade is scheduled to take place, complete with marching bands, floats, and more. Because the parade takes place close to Thundermist facilities and limits traffic and parking, please note that our 25 John A. Cummings Way building (where we have dental and social services) will be closed that day. In addition, our medical center at 450 Clinton St. will only be open for walk-in Convenient Care services that day.

All services resume at normal times on Tuesday, October 13. Enjoy Autumnfest and have a fun, safe holiday weekend! 🍁

Trans, nonbinary, and gender diverse (TGD) people are still protected from discrimination under Rhode Island law! There is still time to RSVP for an online information session next Wednesday, October 7, co-hosted by Thundermist and the Rhode Island Commission for Human Rights to learn about your rights, responsibilities, and how to seek help if you have experienced discrimination in Rhode Island.

From employment to housing, public places, credit, and service delivery, the Commission has helped Rhode Islanders facing unequal treatment for more than 70 years. The Commission is one of the oldest state agencies in the U.S. charged with nondiscrimination law enforcement. During this event you’ll hear from leaders at the Commission and have an opportunity to ask questions.
