School may be out for summer but staff from Woodridge School District 68 were working hard last week volunteering at the Pantry!

We’re grateful for Woodridge 68's continued partnership and commitment to giving back locally. From volunteering at the Pantry to supporting us through initiatives like the recent lettuce harvest at Murphy Elementary School, your district continues to make a meaningful contribution to the neighbors we serve.

Busy summer schedule? Our Online Market offers a convenient way to access groceries without shopping in-person!

Orders can be placed up to 3 days in advance and as little as 30 minutes before pickup. You choose which items you would like, just as if shopping in-person. When it's time to pick up groceries, simply drive up and a volunteer will load your order into your car.

You can visit the Online Market up to four times each month, making it a flexible option for families with children home from school, busy work schedules, or anyone who may find in-person shopping difficult. Currently WSCP averages 400 online orders a week!

Did you know that volunteers can help represent West Suburban Community Pantry out in the community?

Throughout the year, volunteers have opportunities to attend local community events and fairs, share materials, and speak about the Pantry. Our volunteers are the best ambassadors because of their passion! These events help us connect with neighbors, share information about our programs and services, and introduce people to ways they can get involved through volunteering.

These opportunities will be listed in Better Impact or emailed in Off the Shelf to our current volunteers. Currently we have a need for volunteers at Rotary GroveFest in Downers Grove June 25-28th. Employees from Eaton spent time volunteering at the Pantry last week! We were grateful to have their group return and spend the day supporting our mission, helping ensure WSCP can provide over 3 million meals annually.

Eaton also provided a grant towards the purchase of our new box truck, and later this summer we will unveil its new branded design!

Corporate volunteer groups are an important part of what we do, helping us accomplish more each day and better meet the needs of our neighbors. Thank you for your partnership and for choosing to spend time with us at the Pantry!

Fresh lettuce grown by students at Murphy Elementary School in Woodridge School District 68 recently made its way from the classroom to the Pantry!

As part of their 6th grade science class, students used indoor hydroponic farming technology to grow and harvest lettuce right at school. Once the lettuce was ready to harvest, they donated the fresh produce to West Suburban Community Pantry, helping provide nutritious food for our neighbors.

1 in 3 neighbors served by the Pantry are children. How great to see kids helping kids in the community! Thank you to the students and staff for turning their hard work into a meaningful lesson and gift!

Local students at Whittier Elementary School in Downers Grove Grade School District 58 recently collected cereal boxes for West Suburban Community Pantry through their “Project Cereal Box” initiative. Before donating them, students lined the boxes through the hallways and watched them fall domino-style together!

Thanks to their hard work and generosity, they donated more than 350 pounds of cereal to help support local families. This donation comes at a critical time as children are home for the summer and parents must stretch their resources to fill the meal gap left without school meals.

Thank you to the students and staff at Whittier for making such a meaningful impact in our community!

West Suburban Community Pantry will be updating Online Market pickup hours for the summer season starting on June 1st through August 31st. This change is made to keep volunteers and food safe and out of the hot temperatures in the Online Market during summer afternoons. We have increased the number of order slots in the morning hours to accommodate the change. Please see the updated service hours before placing your next order!
