🌟 Cannon County Extension on the Move! 🌟

This week, Cannon Extension had four 4‑H’ers attend Academic Conference at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

These outstanding youth had to apply to competitive program areas to earn their spot. During the conference, they stayed in the dorms, visited Neyland Stadium, and spent time diving deeper into their project areas.

We are proud to share that Nola Manning, Isabella Sevier, Lilli Daniel and Jase Hare were selected as delegates representing Cannon County.

Way to go, 4‑H’ers — you represented us well! 💚🍀

Babysitting R.O.C.K.S was a hit today! We had fun and learned a lot. Here is a peek at our day:

Thank you to our guest speakers:
-Ms Dreama Howard, CHANT coordinator with the TN Dept of Health who gave a presentation on SAFE sleep for infants.
-Cannon County EMS Director, Mr. Justin Harris who showed us basic first aid and CPR on both children and adults. He also talked about some emergencies to be prepared for when babysitting.

We learned some simple recipes that we can make while babysitting, and tested them out for our lunch and snacks.

Several activities:
-Diaper Relay
-What’s in the Sippy Cup? (Poison prevention)
-The Babysitter Emergency (escape room style game- thanks Mrs Holly!)
-Jamie’s Story (listening/following instructions)

And much more!

We our proud to have 7 newly certified babysitters complete this course.

Our next 4‑H Athlete Spotlight is Sawyer Frye — better known as “Snacks”! 🥛⚾
Sawyer shines both on the field and in the show ring with the dairy girls. No matter where he’s competing, dairy keeps him fueled and ready to go.

Today we kicked off our summer day camps with Jam and Biscuits! We had a fun filled day first with making strawberry jam, learning water bath canning and also making freezer jam. In the afternoon we made our own butter (it is June dairy month after all) and then some homemade biscuits! We got to taste it all and take some home to share as well. What a great group! 🍓 🫙 👨‍🍳
