Happy Friday everyone! I have some news to share with yall.
With a heavy heart, I have decided to resign as chair of The Cannon County Out of the Darkness Walk. Since 2023, this walk has been my pride and joy and my biggest accomplishment. All of you trusted a little 17 year old senior in high school to bring awareness to this cause and host something so important. Year after year, every one of you have shown up for me and supported this. As many of you know, my passion for this cause and AFSP has been deep rooted since 2012 when I lost my dad. Because of that, every day, I choose to get up and fight the fight he couldn’t. I will never be able to express my gratitude to every last one of you. You all have become my family and I am beyond thankful for that. Being a su***de survivor is not an easy thing to be, but being apart of this community make it easier.
On the lighter side of things, this walk is being entrusted to very capable hands. Everyone please welcome, Eva Burchell, as your new walk chair. Eva has served on the committee with me for the last two years, and has served countless years as a volunteer for other AFSP walks. While she might be my aunt and I might seem biased, I know wholeheartedly that she will take this walk to the next level. She will serve this wonderful community to the best of her ability. I know that this walk will thrive in her leadership.
Although I will no longer be your chair, I will still be thrilled to see your faces at the walk, just in a different capacity! Again, thank yall for the love and support. I couldn’t have done it without you.
With tons of love and gratitude,
Grace Mathis 🩵💜
