I lead a team of agents called The Lighthouse Team, and though we focus on the Prince William County area, we have helped people buy and sell all over Northern Virginia. I created this page to help residents and visitors learn about the many attractive features of Prince William County and why living here is enjoyable and exciting. My wife and I moved to the Northern Virginia area with our four children when I was stationed here in late 1995 with the Air Force. After another 10 years and two back-to-back military assignments, I completed a career in the United States Air Force retiring with 20 years of service as a Major and Chief Systems Engineer for a large defense communications organization in the area. Having completed engineering degrees at Arizona State University and Stanford University, I had the opportunity to continue on as a Defense contractor…but there was something missing. I felt God was leading us to something different where I could help people in more tangible ways. Real Estate seemed to be a natural transition, and I began my Real Estate career in early 2004. Now, since 2004, helping hundreds of families in the area, The Lighthouse Team has the experience base you need to help you with a listing or a purchase. My wife Paula and I raised four children here, and we are significantly involved with our local church, helping children’s and youth ministries and serving in other vital areas of the church. WAIT—UP TO $20,000 TOWARD BUYING A HOME? Yes! And you may qualify even if you’ve owned a home before.

If you’ve been putting off buying because saving for the down payment feels impossible, this is worth knowing about.

Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta homebuyer assistance funds are available again through participating lenders in Virginia, Maryland and D.C., while funds remain.

Qualified first-time buyers may be eligible for up to $17,500 toward down payment and closing costs. And “first-time buyer” may not mean what you think—you may qualify if you haven’t owned a home during the past 3 years.

Even better, eligible law enforcement officers, educators, healthcare workers, firefighters and other first responders, veterans, active-duty military members, and certain surviving spouses may qualify for the Community Partners program with up to $20,000 in assistance—and Community Partners do not necessarily have to be first-time buyers.

There is also a Workforce Housing Plus+ program offering eligible buyers up to $15,000 toward down payment and closing costs for households generally earning between 80.01% and 120% of area median income.

Income limits, credit, property, lender and other program requirements apply, and funding is limited.

The biggest mistake may be assuming you don’t qualify without checking.
