OOTM: On June 22, 2026 Officer Carlson conducted a traffic stop on Route 1 after observing a vehicle impeding traffic. A check revealed the driver was wanted on multiple violent felony warrants, including robbery and abduction, and was designated "armed and dangerous."

When Officer Carlson attempted to detain him, the suspect resisted, reaching for the back seat several times before fleeing on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Officer Carlson took him into custody. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a loaded fi***rm equipped with an extended magazine and an illegal auto sear "switch,” along with distribution levels of narcotics and cash.

Officer Carlson’s sharp instincts and proactive policing under high-risk conditions led to the apprehension of a dangerous, violent felon. His detailed work resulted in the recovery of an illegal fi***rm and additional narcotics for new charges, successfully removing a major threat from our community.

So thankful the Officer survived! 🙏

Two men accused of stabbing an off-duty NYPD detective seven times in the Bronx have been captured hundreds of miles away, hiding in the basement of a Massachusetts home, police say.

Detective Jose Mercedes, 33, survived the attack after police say he was stabbed and slashed multiple times and robbed of his gold chain.

Days later, Mercedes gave fellow officers a powerful moment outside Jacobi Medical Center. He rose from his wheelchair and walked out of the hospital on his own.

NYPD detectives working with U.S. Marshals tracked D’Angelo Caraballo and Sneider Mejia to Lynn, Massachusetts, where police say both men were found hiding in a basement.

They now face attempted murder charges and are expected in court Thursday.

📷 Sheriff's office still studying impacts of body-worn cameras at Arlington jail

The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office is still evaluating the effects of body-worn cameras introduced at the county jail in April, including their role in deterring disturbances and any unintended consequences. At a Sept. 28 Arlington NAACP forum, officials also discussed deputy recruitment challenges tied to lower starting pay than police officers and updated programs to prepare detainees for re-entry.
