Last night we at the VGCA leadership team had to make a really tough decision. With the fourth coming legislation it was been decided amongst members of the board that we transitioning this page to focus largely on precision air rifles. We hope people understand this new direction and can come to appreciate these fine weapons. We did not take this decision lightly but after members of the board were gifted CMP air rifles to test we really changed our position on the mater. Anyway get excited about air rifles. We plan to do a presentation later this year on the daisy red rider BB gun and hope to do a tour of the crossman facility later this year! Fear not as we will also use this page to keep the spirit of collecting alive while staying in compliance with VA laws. We will be talking about high quality replica airsoft rifles out of Japan as well! Get excited about the new chapter of the VGCA.

Happy Wednesday folks today we got something special this year is Beretta’s 500th anniversary so they are pulling some rare item out of the vault for limited runs! These have a cool story behind them. Originally made in Hungary at FEG as the so called “Tokagypt” a modified version of the TT-33 pistol with a slide safety in 9mm para. Beretta actually got the opportunity to license the design in the late 80’s for the western European markets as tensions behind the Iron curtain began to cool. European gun laws got in the way and Beretta had to chamber the pistol in .30 Luger or .30 bore as was written on this example. These did not sell well as the cost to produce the pistols ended up being quite high due to moving the tooling over from Hungary as well corruption within the Hungarian government, which lead to production delays. A small batch would be sold for the European market in 1992 over 5 and half years after the initial licensing agreement was completed. I’m hoping to be able to pick one up this summer! Shout out to for giving us collectors a first look at these pistols. Video should be dropping later today by

Happy Friday folks! Reminder tomorrow is our monthly meeting. With this month’s presentation being on the beretta 92 family of pistols. From the 92 to the adoption of the m9. Our meeting will be held at the NRA headquarters in fairfax in the south tower at 2pm. We hope to see you there. Pictured is a beretta 92sbc type m. This is an off rare sub variant of the beretta 92sb. One of the biggest complaints about the beretta 92 family of pistols was its size. Mainly people found it too big particularly in the grip. So beretta developed a compact version with the beretta 92sbc. The US airforce at the time was looking for something slimmer for officers to carry but still found the SBC too bulky. Beretta decided to develop a single stack version of the 92sbc. This became the beretta SBC type M. While this version did make the frame even slimmer it was still found to be too bulky. This would ultimately lead to the SIG p229 being adopted as the m11 in Us airforce trials.

Hi folks happy Friday we made it. Today I want to talk about a special pistol to me. The Beretta 952 special. Designed as a civilian target model of the beretta 1951 which was Beretta’s first successful single stack 9x19 Luger pistol. In Italy at the time you couldn’t sell military calibers to civilians so the 9x19 Luger/parabellum cartridge was restricted to government use only. Beretta made the 1951 in 7.65 Luger. After a while beretta changed the civilian designation to the 1952/952 model to distance it from the military model. They also offered a target model called the 952 special. These were custom order guns and could be ordered with fixed or adjustable front and rear sights or some combination of the two. They also offered a long barrel model for increased sight radius. An interesting note is the front sight is removed for takedown to remove the barrel but the sight still holds zero. All of these guns have the A prefix and Z suffix. Only a few thousand where made but serials numbers where purposely run high to obscure the true production numbers from competition. These are quite rare in the states today.

Hi folks we are half way through the week and today I’m dreaming of TEC-9’s. Originally designed as a cheap PDW/SMG, with the Interdynamic mp-9 in Sweden. After it didn’t sell famous gun designer George Kellgren moved to the US and started Interdynamic and made mp-9 transferable machine guns and KG-9 pistols. The 2500 pistols were made before ATF determined them to be machine guns. The gun was redesigned into the closed bolt tec-9 and Kellgren sold his half of the company to his partner Garcia formed a new company called Intratec who went on to make the Tec-9 until the assault weapons ban in 1994. Those have since become quite collectible. What do you think of the Tec 9? Let us know below ⬇️
