💗 THIS IS OUR WHY.

No child should miss the first day of school because they don't have clothes that fit.

At Boxes of Basics, we believe every child deserves to walk into the classroom feeling confident, comfortable, and ready to learn.

Every box makes a difference. Every child matters. 💗

1,000 dental kits. So many reasons to smile! 🦷💙

A huge thank-you to Microsoft for packing 1,000 dental kits for Boxes of Basics as part of their Give event!

Special thanks to our Board Chairwoman, Tara Conroy, for coordinating the event and connecting these new team members with our mission.

These kits will be tucked into our boxes alongside clothing, shoes, and other essentials for children in our community. We’re grateful to Microsoft for its continued support and to everyone who helped pack a little extra care into every box!

Some of the most meaningful partnerships are the ones that make a difference day after day. 💙

For the past year, 3 Daves Moving, located in Re*****on, Virginia, has generously supplied Boxes of Basics with the packing paper we use to carefully wrap the outfits in every box we prepare.

It may seem like a small detail, but to us, it's an important part of what makes Boxes of Basics special. Every outfit is thoughtfully wrapped and packaged so that children receiving our boxes experience the excitement of opening a gift, rather than simply receiving clothing.

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of 3 Dave’s Moving & Storage, we've been able to maintain that special touch for thousands of local children over the past year.

As we continue to grow our presence in Fauquier County, we're especially grateful for local businesses like 3 Dave’s that demonstrate such a strong commitment to supporting their neighbors. Their generosity, reliability, and dedication to our mission mean more than we can say.

Thank you, 3 Dave’s Moving & Storage, for a full year of partnership and for helping us make every box a gift worth opening! 💙📦

🚨 URGENT NEED 🚨

We can only help kids if we have the clothes to give them, and right now we need YOU.

Families across our community count on Boxes of Basics for the everyday clothing their kids need to feel confident at school, at home, and everywhere in between. Your gently used kids’ clothes can go straight into a box for a child who’s waiting.

Clean out those closets, bag up what your kids have outgrown, and drop it off at one of our donation locations this week:

Every shirt, pair of pants, and pair of pajamas makes a difference. 💗

Last night, Boxes of Basics had a very special representative accept our grant from the Giving Circle of Heritage Hunt: Sarah’s son, Max! ❤️

Max has been part of Boxes of Basics since the very beginning, so it was especially meaningful to watch him accept this generous grant, which will provide 600 pairs of brand-new athletic shoes to local children through our Step Toward Hope program. 👟

We were honored to be recognized alongside 21 other incredible local nonprofits at Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club, including so many partners whose work strengthens our community every day.

The Giving Circle of Heritage Hunt has supported Boxes of Basics from our earliest days. We are deeply grateful for their continued belief in our mission and for helping 600 children experience the comfort, confidence, and joy of a brand-new pair of shoes.

And as for Max? The apple certainly doesn’t fall far from the tree. ❤️ Take a look in the comments for a glimpse of where his Boxes of Basics story began!

📦💗 BACK TO BASICS: How does a child receive a box?

It all starts with our community. 🤝

Children are referred to Boxes of Basics by trusted partners who are already working directly with families in need—including schools, social workers, nonprofits, shelters, and other community organizations.

These partners understand the needs of local families firsthand and help us make sure each box reaches a child who needs it most.

From referral to a carefully packed wardrobe, it’s a true community effort—and a beautiful reminder of what can happen when neighbors come together to support one another.

One child. One box. A whole community of care.

A little teamwork can make a BIG difference! 💙📦

We were delighted to welcome a wonderful group from to our warehouse as part of their Day of Caring campaign!

And what a difference they made! Together, the team packed 30 Boxes of Basics, providing 30 local children with complete seasonal wardrobes filled with clothing and essentials they can wear with confidence and dignity.

But that's not all! The NOVEC team also arrived with an incredibly generous $2,000 donation AND treated everyone to lunch!

We're so grateful to NOVEC for choosing to spend their Day of Caring with us and for going above and beyond to support children and families in our community.

Thank you, NOVEC, for your time, energy, and extraordinary generosity! We loved having you at the warehouse! 💙
