“The celebration kicks off Sunday, June 21, with the fourth annual “Chalk the Trail,” which is a free family event that allows people to get creative with chalk on the Mountain Division Rail Trail (near the Maine Visitor Center). There will be face painting, bubbles and bicycle helmet giveaways Sunday morning from 9-11 a.m.”

Trail Advisory – 6/19/26 Sunday Morning

A friendly heads-up for trail users: the Trek Across Maine will be passing through this weekend, and riders will be using the Mountain Division Trail between Gambo Road and Route 202 on Sunday morning.

If you plan to be out on that section of the trail, please use extra caution, slow down, and be prepared for increased bicycle traffic. Everyone is encouraged to share the trail and help make it a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Thank you, and we hope everyone has a wonderful weekend on the trail! 🚴☀️

🌲 Exciting Partnership Announcement! 🌲

Have you noticed the Mountain Division Trail in Gorham looking a little cleaner and more maintained lately?

We’re excited to announce a new partnership between the Friends of the Mountain Division Trail and Gorham Parks & Recreation to help keep the Gorham section of the trail safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.

As part of this effort, Andrew Walton has been out on the trail clearing brush, trimming vegetation, and addressing maintenance needs before they become bigger problems.

“My goal is to keep the trail clear and safe, and perform preventative maintenance to increase the lifetime of the trail surface,” says Andrew.

Regular maintenance helps improve visibility, enhance safety for all trail users, protect the trail investment, and preserve the beautiful experience that so many walkers, runners, and cyclists enjoy.

The Mountain Division Trail continues to grow in popularity, and partnerships like this help ensure it remains a high-quality community asset for years to come.

Thank you to Gorham Parks & Recreation for their support and commitment to the trail!

📍 Have you been on the trail recently? Let us know what improvements you’ve noticed in the comments.
