Two locations. Different services. One mission. 💙

Did you know our Miami Family Service Center opened just two years ago?

While our Broward campus is home to KID Preschool PLUS, our Afterschool Program, and other services for children and families, our Miami location serves a different purpose.

It's a space where our Family Central team connects with families, collaborates with community partners, distributes donated essentials, and supports programs like HIPPY, Nurturing Parenting, Early Learning Initiatives, and Benefits Enrollment.

📍 Different locations, different ways of making an impact, but the same commitment to strengthening children and families across South Florida.

Visit familycentral.org to learn more about our programs and how you can get involved!

One ripple can start a wave.

Every child deserves safety, stability and the opportunity to thrive. At Kids In Distress and Family Central, we know lasting change takes more than one organization. It takes a community.

We're excited to introduce Wave of Impact, a new way for individuals, businesses and community partners to come together in support of children and families across South Florida.

Through foster care, early childhood education and family strengthening services, we're helping create stronger foundations for brighter futures.

And there is a place for everyone in this Wave. Give, become a Champion, engage your company, share our mission or help us build new relationships.

One action can create a ripple.

Together, we can create lasting impact.

What would happen if the kids were in charge for a day? 😂

We asked our KID Preschool PLUS students to finish the sentence, “If I were a teacher for a day…” and their answers did not disappoint.

From big ideas to very important classroom rules, they definitely have their teaching plans ready. ❤️

At KID Preschool PLUS, we love creating moments where kids can use their imagination, express themselves, and, of course, have a little fun along the way.

Three meals a day. One less thing for parents to worry about.

At KID Preschool PLUS, caring for our children means more than what happens in the classroom. Each day, our students receive breakfast, lunch and a snack helping them stay nourished, focused and ready to learn, play and grow.

It’s just one of the many ways we support children and their families.

Stepping in to raise a child unexpectedly can be overwhelming, especially when you don't know where to turn for help. 💙

That's why the Kids in Distress Kinship Program is here.

From parenting support groups and family activities to community resources and legal assistance, we help kinship caregivers in Broward County navigate the challenges of raising a child and build safe, stable homes.
Because the families who step up for children deserve support, too. 🦋

Are you a kinship caregiver looking for support, or would you like to help us make a difference?

At KID Preschool PLUS, learning and play go hand in hand. 💙

Our days are filled with fun, engaging activities that give children the opportunity to explore, create, move, problem-solve, and learn while simply being kids.

Because some of the best learning happens when children are having so much fun, they don’t even realize they’re learning.

Ready to see what a day at KID Preschool PLUS looks like? Schedule a tour and come meet us!

Today, we recognize the significance of Yom Kippur and the International Day of Peace.

To those observing Yom Kippur, we wish you a meaningful time of reflection, forgiveness and renewal.

As we also recognize the International Day of Peace, we are reminded that peace begins within each of us. Through compassion, understanding and our everyday choices, we can help create greater peace in our homes, workplaces and communities.

What if we could reach a family before they ever reached a crisis? 💙

For much of her career, Raeann Bacchus worked with children and families when they were already facing some of their most difficult moments. In the latest conversation with Mark Dhooge, she shares what makes the work of Kids In Distress and Family Central different: the opportunity to work upstream.

Through education, prevention, family strengthening and support, we can help families find the resources they need earlier - before a challenge becomes a crisis.

As Raeann says, “You shouldn’t be separated because of a crisis.”

Watch the next chapter of Mark and Raeann’s conversation and hear why she believes so deeply in the work happening here every day.
