Orville Joseph Hutfles, 88, of Holton, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, surrounded by his family. He was born June 29, 1937 at Kelly, the son of Harry and Agnes Huerter Hutfles. He graduated from Kelly High School in 1955 and served in the

These nonperishable food items are such a blessing for our houseparents & girls and help them stretch their grocery budget even further!

If you’ve been watching the evening news on KAKE lately, you may recognize a familiar backdrop! 🎥✨

Carpenter Place’s Bill Rhodes Gymnasium was recently featured in KAKE’s newest promo video, and we were so honored that they chose our historic gym for the shoot.

Named after former Carpenter Place CEO Bill Rhodes, who served from 1950 to 1958, the gym was originally built to bring students and the community together through activities and events. Over the years, it has hosted countless memories — and today, it continues to serve our campus as the home of our girls’ physical education classes.

We love seeing this special part of Carpenter Place history in the spotlight!
