Turn tools and appliances into ramps, roofs and safer stairs as a shopper, donor and volunteer! Founded in 1998, COVER's mission is to build community and foster hope through fellowship and cooperation in the Upper Valley of VT and NH. We bring staff, volunteers and homeowners together to complete 100+ critical home repairs every year for low-income homes, so that homeowners can stay in their home

s safely and affordably. In addition, the COVER Store and Cover to COVER Books in White River Junction sell gently used household goods, books, and building materials at affordable prices, giving items a second (sometimes a third, fourth or fifth) life. 100% of store proceeds help fund COVER's home repair program.

We will be open late tomorrow for FIRST FRIDAY in White River Junction! In honor or Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library dedicated to improving childhood literacy by providing free books once a month to children, kids that come in from 4-7pm can get one free book!!!!

We wanted to send a super mega major THANK YOU to Ledyard for the FIVE days they sent volunteers our way for! This reel only shows a small fraction of all of the amazing and inspirational moments we had together this summer.

Last Friday we had another successful All Women's Work Project!
We had one newer volunteer and one long time volunteer join Nancy and Jay for some roof repairs in Charlestown, NH. The weather was beautiful and the company amazing!

We are so lucky to have had group #4 from last week in Woodstock, VT to install skirting! The day was hot, but the crew was dedicated.

We have one more project next week of Ledyard Bank employees and we are sad to see our summer with them come to an end!

Here's to looking forward to summer 2027 🎉

This week we want to thank an AMAZING crew of people from the Dartmouth Advancement Team!

This group traveled to Strafford, VT to help finish up a ramp and deck that Ledyard bank got started for us the week prior. They worked hard and went above and beyond to accomplish this large feat!

Thank you Heidi for helping pull together such a fantastic crew! 🎉

🛠 A show of progress! 🥹

This summer we have spent time in Newport, NH, first building a carport to help protect the entrance from the elements and then replacing the front steps of that same home. We had a super group from Hypertherm (and some amazing regular volunteers!) get the carport up and ready. The weather was perfect and moral was high!

When we returned this past week to build new stairs, the weather was less than ideal (we're so lucky to have some great pop up tents!) but the moral was just as high!

Last Friday we had yet another AMAZING crew from Ledyard Bank! This time they joined us in Strafford, VT to get a ramp started. It was a gorgeous day and the team got so much done that we are hoping to finish this ramp on Thursday with a crew from the Dartmouth Advancement Team!

📢 Volunteer Shout Out! 📢

This last month we were so lucky to be joined nearly EVERY DAY by our Home Repair team member Jay's cousin, Jackie. She and her partner, Tavi, wished to get away from city life for a bit and come to Vermont, spend time outside, and do some good.

"It’s a fun way to spend the day working with your hands and it’s very satisfying at the end to feel accomplished in a way that's just different than your 9-5 city job, which is what I came away from. Spending the whole summer outside is such a gift and is so fun. I would highly recommend it to any young person in a city needing an escape for the summer."

We so appreciate her time and willingness to spend the whole month with us. THANK YOU!

She and Tavi will be back at the end of August, into September 🥳

This was such a special project for so many reasons. Not only did we get to build a ramp for a family in need, but we did it with three different teams. Day 1 was our All Women Work crew, Day 2 was a Full Family crew, Day 3 was a Ledyard Bank crew.

Building community is a foundational goal of what we do at COVER and we accomplished that over and over again on this project. A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially the first ever Full Family crew!
