🌟 Fun Fact Friday with SENG 🌟

Did you know that many gifted learners are known for having highly specific “deep dive” interests—sometimes called “intense passions”?

One week it might be marine biology, the next week ancient maps, coding languages, or the history of fountain pens—and they can talk about it with surprising expertise for hours. It’s less “short attention span” and more “bottomless curiosity bucket” once something captures their interest.

So if you hear a young person (or adult!) suddenly become an unofficial expert on something unexpected, you’re probably witnessing gifted curiosity in action. 😄

Sometimes giftedness looks like a tangled skein of yarn.

Messy. Overwhelming. Impossible to follow.
But if you’ve ever worked with yarn, you know that you don’t fix a tangle by pulling harder.

You slow down. You find one thread. You follow it intentionally.

Gifted minds can feel the same way. Big thoughts. Deep emotions. So many threads crossing at once.

It’s not a mess.
It’s complexity waiting to be understood.

And the goal isn’t to force it into neat lines.
It’s to learn how to work with the threads, in all their uniqueness.

This Gifted Awareness Week, let’s stop asking gifted individuals to “untangle faster” and start giving them the space and support to do it in their own way. 🧶
