It’s time to move, celebrate, and rise with the Earth!

Wild + sacred afternoon of Earth and Community-honoring ceremony, drumming, maypole dancing, creative space. Chill springtime hang after. It’s time to move, create, celebrate, and bloom with the Earth!

Get ready for barefoot laughter, joyful community ritual, and soul family. All ages, all bodies, all beings welcome. Come as you are, or come extra festive!

We start right at 1PM, so give yourself plenty of time for parking and to find us. It's a big park! After the maypole dance, stay for a community drum circle, earthy crafts in the Makerspace, and picnic vibes.

Bring:

Drum, rattle, hoop — or just your beautiful energy (extras provided too!)
Something to sit on if you want
Add to the food altar or bring a creative share if you feel called
Suggested love donation: $5-10 keeps the magic flowing.

My friend Jacqueline Weller died this morning after her cancer returned with a vengeance. We were friends for, well, close to thirty years. She was one of the first people I met when moving to Denver. We collaborated to host the Witches' Ball for several years, which she founded along with several other wonderful, notable community events over the decades she spent as a leader and organizer. I learned so much from her as a mentor, spiritual teacher, community member and organizer, and friend.

I'll never forget her coming over for Thanksgiving one year, and the way she discussed/debated life, politics, and wisdom with my very conventional and conservative dad. It was an experience not to be repeated or forgotten!

We had a good conversation on Tuesday in the hospital, and she shared that she finally realized just that day that she didn't have long left. I said my final goodbye on Thursday, in the MICU, and while she couldn't speak much she did open her eyes for a moment. There were tears from both of us.

Part of me is so angry with her right now - I know that's a stage of grief - that she could have taken care of her self better, received medical care earlier and more consistently, planned better for this. But I know that's really my own way of feeling sad for the loss, for what could have been, and the end to a chapter in my life that included her.

I'm going to miss her. But I'm also going to remember the spaces, places, and times she engineered and gifted to so many people that brought joy, connection, and growth. I'm going to remember how she inspired, accepted, opened, connected, and intuited. And the gifts she cultivated in me and many others will live on. Hail the traveler!

Living Earth is hosting an open Beltane ritual with maypole dance on Sunday, May 5 at 1pm, O'Kane Park located near 1st and Sheridan. Welcoming, inclusive, all ages, free, donations are welcome like all Living Earth ceremonies and events.
