More moments from CRHDC's 2026 All-Team Retreat!

Three days in the San Luis Valley gave our statewide team a chance to connect, learn, celebrate, and have some fun together! From exploring Great Sand Dunes National Park and sharing meals to meaningful conversations about mental health, organizational culture, and our future, we made some wonderful memories.

We also got to see our work in action! Our team toured the nearly completed Tierra Azul Clubhouse in Alamosa, saw the progress underway on our 8-plexes and 32-plex, and visited a Mutual Self-Help Housing neighborhood in Monte Vista.

A particularly special moment was honoring three people who have made lasting contributions to CRHDC: Janet Lucero, whose 25 years of service helped hundreds of families build homes through our Mutual Self-Help Housing Program; Board member Stephanie Tedy; and Curtis Schneider, our CFO and a 30-year team member. All three were recognized with streets named in their honor at Tierra Azul!

A huge thank-you to Bonnie Ortega and Diamond Mobley for their AMAZING mental health presentation, and to everyone who helped make the retreat possible: Angelica Gallegos at San Luis Valley Behavioral Health, Kyle at Airport Café, Dalton Carleo at the Alamosa Family Recreation Center, and Alcon Construction. We also appreciate GL Development Advisors and KEPHART Architectural Design and Planning for their contributions to Tierra Azul and for joining us on the tour!

We left with stronger connections, new perspectives, and plenty to celebrate. Here's to the people behind CRHDC!

Halloween is right around the corner, and we’re reaching out to our wonderful community for a little help.

Many of our senior residents would love to participate in the Halloween fun by handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, but with limited incomes, purchasing candy isn’t always possible. We want to help make sure our seniors can enjoy the excitement of Halloween, too! 👻

The CRHDC team just wrapped up a three day retreat in Alamosa and we can’t wait to tell you about it (spoiler, it was awesome) and share more photos. Until then, we are high fiving into the weekend, hope you have a great one. 🙌

It’s exciting to see Tierra Azul Apartments continuing to take shape in Alamosa!

The final roof trusses are now up on the 30-plex building, marking another major construction milestone for Phase 1 of the development. These new affordable homes are part of CRHDC’s long-term investment in expanding housing opportunities in the San Luis Valley.

And for our SLV friends, the Tierra Azul Apartments waitlist is now open! The first 8 apartments are anticipated to be available in January 2027, with additional homes becoming available in the months that follow.

Teamwork on the build site! Our next crew of Mutual Self-Help Housing program participants are getting so close to converting their home from the construction phase to the move-in and celebrate being a new homeowner stage. We love to see it!

As summer comes to a close, we're looking back on a season of building homes, strengthening communities, and making memories across Colorado.
