Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention International Yellow Ribbon is a program of Light for Life Foundation Intl, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the awareness & prevention of youth su***de.

The Program started in response to the heartfelt pleas after the death of a friend and loved one, Mike Emme. Words of help and hope that his family said were put on bright yellow paper. Why Yellow? For their friend who was known for the bright yellow 1968 Ford Mustang he had rebuilt. Teens shared the messages locally and began to mail them ‘everywhere’. Within three weeks, word came of a girl save

d after she asked for help using this bright yellow message, the hallmark of the program – to ask for help. The ripple effect began and a bright yellow bridge was built. The story of Yellow Ribbon has appeared in Chicken Soup for the Soul, Third Serving, Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul (and other Chicken Soup books). The founders, Dale and Dar Emme have appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show highlighting a girl who was saved by the program and many other TV and Print media. The Program has received over 50,000 letters of thanks and stories of how people got help and are helping others. The Emmes are directors of the program and are dedicated to building sustainable lifesaving practices in communities to educate and empower people to help at their own comfort level. People ask what they can do, how they can help...Yellow Ribbon's unique approach of teaching basic skills and How To Be A Link to all members of the community has proven to reduce stigma, change and empower communities to be life saving advocates.
