Today’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Spotlight is Sophie Young from Sigourney! 🌟

𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐀𝐀𝐂: “My favorite part of SAAC is all of the girls I have met along the way, as well as feeling like I can make a difference for girls sports and help make them more known!”

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: “I am involved in bowling and volleyball. The thing I enjoy most about both of them is how competitive each program is, but both sports have teams that I have gotten very close with throughout my years of high school.”

𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬: “A piece of advice I would give to student-athletes is to not be afraid to take pride in what you do! Each sport is different, but don’t let people tell you it’s not as important as other sports!”

💗 𝐀 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐓 💗

Our IGHSAU staff had the opportunity to visit with longtime girls basketball coach and administrator Dr. Anthony Pappas!

A true inspiration, Dr. Pappas continues to teach us the importance of a positive attitude, mental toughness, and perseverance. His impact on girls athletics and the lessons he continues to share extend far beyond the basketball court.

Thank you, Dr. Pappas, for continuing to inspire us! 💗
