In Alexandria Bay, volunteer firefighters and ambulance squad members are always ready to answer the call. Covering 84.6 square miles—including parts of the St. Lawrence River and its islands—these volunteers provide essential emergency services to their community, with no paid responders.

Through their Immediate Need Fund, the local The Foundation for Community Betterment—Alexandria Bay Chapter was able to step in with essential CPR training mannequins and a patient-moving device, helping these dedicated volunteers continue serving their community and keeping their neighbors safe!

When a need is immediate, Betterment can help make a difference—supporting the people who show up for others, so they can keep showing up when it matters most!

Every ripple has a story. 💙

For the past few summers, the Little Neck chapter has brought the Betterment Lemonade Stand to swim meets and community events around the neighborhood—turning a simple lemonade stand into a way to give back.

This summer, these young volunteers worked to raise funds for the Backpack Drive for , which provided local children with the supplies they need to start the school year ready to learn.

As we share our Stories of Betterment, we’re especially grateful to see a new generation becoming part of Betterment’s work—and adding their own stories to our 26 year history!

We’re so lucky to watch the ripple continue. ❤️

Every ripple has a story. 💙

Five years ago, brothers CJ and Cree of Canton, Ohio, started a lemonade stand to benefit the Little Pink Ribbon Girl Foundation. Since then, they've raised more than $22,000 to help local children and families facing cancer.

For the past three years, CJ and Cree have been recipients of Betterment's Carolyn Fund, which supports young people whose generosity and community involvement are making a difference around them.

CJ and Cree's story is one of the many reasons we love what Betterment makes possible. Through the Carolyn Fund, we get to be part of their story—and they, in turn, become part of ours.

These are the people who make Betterment what it is. ❤️

🍂 We’re Looking for a Fall Intern! 🍂

As we wrap up summer, we want to give a huge thank you to our summer interns—Jack, Sotiria, and Maddie! ❤️ From communications and social media to chapter support, event projects, and our Stories of Betterment campaign, they brought creativity, energy, and fresh ideas to Betterment. We’re so grateful for all they contributed!

Now, we’re looking for a Fall 2026 Intern who’s excited to learn how a small nonprofit creates big impact.

This is an unpaid, remote position, ideal for a student seeking academic credit and hands-on experience in communications, fundraising, storytelling, social media, and nonprofit operations.

👀 Pssst… longtime Betterment supporters: remember when your kids were running around at chapter events? They’re college-aged now… and they might be the perfect candidates to help keep the ripple effect going strong!

Because what’s really worth the money? Helping a neighbor through an unexpected crisis. Making someone’s home safer and more accessible. Being there when someone needs a little help getting back on their feet.

And yes—supporting Betterment through a raffle ticket, a monthly gift, or joining one of our Giving Circles so together we can keep helping recipients when they need it most 😉

For over 20 years, Hearts for Youth has provided fun, safe, and engaging programs for children throughout the Alexandria Bay community. As participation has grown, so has the need to ensure every child has access to a healthy snack during activities.⁠

That's why our Alexandria Bay Chapter was proud to provide $2,000 in support to help cover snack expenses for the coming year—allowing Hearts for Youth to continue investing in the programs that help local kids learn, play, and thrive! We are thrilled to help your work in this way, !

🎒💙 Big hearts making a big impact!

A huge shoutout to our amazing friends at Little Neck Junior Chapter for helping make a difference in the lives of local youth. 👏

Recently, members of the chapter delivered backpacks to Ever Held as part of an incredible initiative to provide 400 backpacks to Tidewater youth in foster care. Every backpack represents more than school supplies—it’s a reminder that these young people are supported, valued, and cared for.

We're so proud of these young leaders for turning compassion into action and creating a ripple effect of goodness throughout their community. 💙🎒
