The first new bill filed for the 2027 General Assembly is a replay of an idea to make sure people with intellectual or developmental disability don’t send up in prison because they said something they didn’t understand they were saying to police. ⤵️ Find a link to the story in the comments.

📣 Medicaid Waiver Care Hours Advocacy & Support
Have your DD Medicaid Waiver care hours been reduced or denied, even though your needs or the needs of your loved one have stayed the same or increased?

The The Arc of Northern Virginia shared that the disAbility Law Center of Virginia (dLCV) is seeking referrals from people impacted by this issue. dLCV can provide guidance and may be able to offer free legal representation.

This applies to care-hour reductions within the last six months, whether you appealed and won or lost, or did not appeal.

Yummy peach crisp for cooking Friday at Autism Community Alliance.

Peach crisp for cooking Friday. Yum! If you like butter you will like this as it uses a lot! We first softened the peaches we cut up in some butter and syrup. We didn’t have the cast iron pan or a small baking sheet recommended in the YouTube videos … so we decided to use muffin tins. We added the crumble which has equal parts oats, butter and sugar with a little flour, salt and vanilla. After baking for about 20 minutes to a golden brown the kitchen smelled wonderful. Vanilla ice cream is the perfect complement, especially when the crisp is still warm. Maybe we will try another time with another fruit? But we may cut back on the butter and add some more fruit …
