Student National Pharmaceutical Association SNPhA is a student lead organization dedicated to the pharmacy profession and serving the underserved Scrivens organized that first meeting. Mr. Clinton C.

The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) was founded in 1972 on the campus of Florida A&M University, when Sharon Roquemore (now Sharon Lovick Edwards) and John J. In addition to the students from Florida A&M University, students from Howard University, Texas Southern University, Xavier University and other schools were in attendance. The meeting participants numbered about one hund

red. Our many years of success are in part due to the outstanding leadership the association has had over the years. Cunningham was the first Executive Secretary; serving from 1972-1974. Ralph Arline (deceased) succeeded him from 1974-1979. It was in 1979 that SNPhA gained its first female leader, named Heidi Anderson (Currently Dr. Heidi Anderson-Harper). For ten years, she provided impeccable leadership bringing SNPhA into a new era. Dr. Marisa Lewis took the helm in 1989 and continued for the next 16 years in the capacity, the longest tenure of any Executive Director. The current SNPhA administration includes Dr. Carmita Coleman as the National Executive Director, Dr. George Okpamen as the National Assistant Executive Director and Elaine Anderson as the National Executive Assistant. Over the years, SNPhA has been blessed with several assistant executive directors, who included Dr. Terri Smith-Moore, Dr. Monica Lahoz, and Dr. Patricia Lieveld. Dr. Julie Smith served as the current assistant executive director from 1995 to 2007.

The 2026–2027 SNPhA Membership Drive is officially underway! Whether you’re a returning member or ready to join the Pharmily for the first time, now is the time to get connected, get involved, and discover where your passion can take you.

📅 Membership Drive: August 1 – October 31, 2026
👥 Bulk Membership: Contact your local Chapter President to register
🎓 High School Students: FREE membership when registered by October 31st
📍 Find Your Region: Connect with your Regional Facilitator to learn more about opportunities in your area!

And don’t forget the “My Passion, My Purpose, My First Step” Surge Challenge! Chapters can earn 300 CIC points by creating an intentional recruitment experience that helps prospective members discover their passion, connect it to purpose within SNPhA, and take their first step toward getting involved.
