History: Established in 2004, JQ International was born out of an urgent need our CEO, Asher Gellis, felt and saw in the Los Angeles community - there was no space for LGBTQ+ Jewish folks to feel connected to one another, to their faith, and to their intersectional identities. What started as a dedicated individual planning safe and affirming community events grew into a powerful organization dedicated to uplifting queer Jewish joy and creating a more inclusive future for all LGBTQ+ Jews and their allies.

From Shabbat dinners to vibrant holiday gatherings, coming together in authentic celebration is vital to our community’s spirit.

Allyship Honoree Adina summed it up beautifully: "JQ creates spaces where LGBTQ plus Jews are celebrated. Spaces where people can show up fully as their authentic selves without having to edit or hide who they are."

JQ’s Inclusion Trainings help secular and Jewish organizations better understand and address the needs of their LGBTQ+ members, creating spaces that are truly welcoming for all.

As Allyship Award Honoree Rabbi Yoshi Zweiback powerfully stated: "Inclusion is a sacred obligation."
