The Connecticut Veterans Legal Center

The Connecticut Veterans Legal Center Removing legal barriers for Connecticut's Veterans. Proud to help all who served. The Veterans Inclusion Project believes all who serve in the U.S.

We are an independent non-profit organization, made possible thanks to public and private support. Connecticut Veterans Legal Center (CVLC) is an independent 501(c)3 organization that provides legal representation at no-cost to veterans throughout the state. As a recovery-focused organization, CVLC primarily, but not exclusively, serves clients through a Medical-Legal Partnership model in which we

partner with Veterans Administration Hospitals (“the VA”) and other and other connected providers to provide holistic support for veterans alongside their clinicians to secure housing and access to healthcare and income benefits. In addition to directly serving more than 1,000 veterans each year, CVLC is committed to understanding and addressing systemic injustice. Through the Veterans Inclusion Project, we are proud to be a national leader in policy research: working to understand and dismantle inequity within the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs. Military are veterans who deserve to be treated with dignity.

Thank you to Connecticut Veterans Affairs for including us in the Freedom250 Resource Fair at Rocky Hill yesterday! 🦅

CLU Attorney Tucker McWeeny and Executive Director Alison Weir (USAF Veteran) had a great time talking to Veterans and our colleagues from throughout the state.

Our next scheduled tabling is August 6th, when we will be back in Rocky Hill for the Veterans Farmers Market 🍅.

Following that, we will be at Ocean Beach Park in New London for the Annual Military Appreciation Day on August 12th ⛱.

We are closed on Friday, June 19th, in recognition of Juneteenth. We will reopon on Monday.

As many now know, Juneteenth celebrates a pivotable moment in our nation's long struggle to abolish slavery. On Jun 19, 1865, General Gordon Granger reached Galveston, Texas, bringing news of the Emancipation Proclamation that was signed three years prior.

Read more on the military's role in Juneteenth: https://www.military.com/off-duty/how-us-military-helped-create-juneteenth-holiday.html

Slavery was not technically legally abolished across the US until the 13th Amendment in December of 1865, and we recognize the continued work of advocates to perfect our union to this day.
