What happens when the business community takes the stage for music education?

On November 17, corporate bands from BlackRock, Bloomberg, MFS, Spotify, J.P. Morgan, and more will come together at Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square for Compete for a Cause NYC, a night of live music and friendly competition in support of Music Will.

As Ted M. Maloney, CEO of MFS Investment Management and guitarist for The Infinite M’s, puts it, music brings people together, builds confidence and creativity, and expands access to music education.

We’re already 62% of the way to our $260,000 fundraising goal, and every dollar helps expand modern band music education for students nationwide.

Year two of our partnership with Toyota USA and the Driving Music Forward initiative is bringing the power of music to even more students, sparking creativity, building confidence, and strengthening communities by connecting classroom learning to authentic, real-world experiences.

Alongside a $75,000 donation to expand modern band programs in public schools nationwide, Toyota provided Music Will students with unforgettable stages to showcase their talent live at major festivals including Lollapalooza, Roots Picnic, Sueños, and Head In The Clouds on the Toyota Music Den stage.

By creating these meaningful platforms, partnerships like this help uplift diverse voices and empower the next generation of artists to see what’s possible for their futures.

🥁 Need New Instruments? The National Instrument Fund is Back!

After an incredible year of helping fund music classrooms across the country, the National Instrument Fund is officially open again - sponsored by Sweetwater. 🎸

Through the fund, Music Will is helping public and charter school educators get instruments into the hands of their students and build vibrant, student-centered music programs.

How to qualify: The fund is open to educators who have completed our Modern Band 101 professional development — a foundational training designed to help you bring guitar, drums, keyboard, popular music, and student-centered learning into your classroom.

Haven’t taken Modern Band 101 yet? There’s still time! Check out our upcoming virtual and in-person training opportunities to become eligible.

Who: Public and charter school educators in all 50 states + Washington, D.C.

They'll go head-to-head with corporate bands from PIMCO, BlackRock, J.P. Morgan, MFS, and Spotify for a night of live music and friendly rivalry, all in support of expanding music education programs nationwide.
