At Roots Picnic, one of Philadelphia's most iconic music and culture festivals, the Toyota Music Den was alive with the talent of two young Music Will DJs.

DJ Ken Roc, 12, opened with a smooth house music set that drew everyone in immediately. DJ Long Legs, 16, followed with a 90s throwback that took the energy to another level. Both have been behind the decks since age 7, and their poise and artistry on that stage spoke for itself.

From city to city and festival to festival, watching our students step into their confidence on stages like this is one of the greatest joys of this work. That doesn’t happen without a partner who truly believes in the power of music. Thank you to Toyota USA for investing in our students and for building platforms where their talent can truly shine.

Happy Higher Education Day! 🎓🎶

Did you know Music Will works beyond K-12? We partner with colleges and universities to help faculty transform their coursework with popular music education, to help music teacher educators prepare their students for the music classrooms of tomorrow.

Through our Higher Education Fellowship and a complete suite of workshops for students and faculty, Music Will's programming has been incorporated into the curriculum at more than 100 colleges and universities throughout the U.S.

By supporting the next generation of music teachers, we hope to support music classrooms with experiences as diverse as the students they will teach.

The 2026 Higher Education Fellowship runs July 19–24 — applications are open now.

Last month, we had the privilege of welcoming our partners at Enterprise Vision Technologies (EVT) to PS 22 in Jersey City for an instrument unveiling.

Through their generosity, students were surprised with guitars, amps, and music tech. When the crew arrived, the students welcomed them the best way they knew how—with a live performance of "How Far I'll Go" from Moana.

Their teacher, Jenna, said it best: "Thank you so much for selecting us and for making such a positive impact on our school! Our students are so excited about the donations. We can't wait to put them into practice!!!"

That's the ripple effect of a partner who genuinely invests in students. EVT didn't just donate—they showed up, and these kids felt it. Thank you, EVT, for believing that every student deserves access to music. We're grateful to have you in our corner.

DrummergirlTurps is an elementary music teacher in Savannah, GA, a digital creator, and the first woman to graduate from Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts with a degree in drumming.

Her innovative drum lessons inspired us to show up for her classroom, so we surprised her with five Zip-Kits.

Most kids have to wait to play the drum set if there even is one in their classroom. Now, five of Ms. Turpin's students can play at the same time.

You could help change that for even more students.

Enter the Metallica x Zip-Kit Fandiem sweepstakes for a chance to win a Metallica-signed Zip-Kit where every entry puts more kits in more classrooms.

This past weekend, students from Sarah Goode STEM Academy took the Toyota Music Den stage at Sueños Festival. From the classroom to one of the country’s biggest Latin music festivals, these young musicians brought incredible talent and represented their community in a big way. None of this happens without dedicated teachers like Kelly McCollom, who shows up for her students every single day.

Huge thanks to Toyota Latino for continuing to invest in music education and create opportunities that put student voices center stage.

Terryn reminds us that music isn't just something you listen to or learn, it's somewhere you go. A place to be present, to breathe, to say the things words can't hold.

That’s not a side effect of music education; it’s the whole point. 💙

Last week, we brought together an extraordinary community in New York City for our Annual Benefit, and we've been sitting with the gratitude ever since.

Thank you. Not just for the donations, the bids, and the paddle raises, but for choosing to spend an evening believing in something. Every bit of the room's presence was felt.

N'Kenge set the tone from the moment she stepped onstage. Our artist honorees: T Bone Burnett, Master P, Maren Morris, and Bruce Eskowitz reminded us why this work connects so deeply to the broader world of music and culture. And then the students performed, filling the room with an energy that turned our mission into a tangible, beautiful reality.

Together, we raised over $1 million to support music education programs for students across the country. Behind that total are young people who will now have greater access to creativity, confidence, connection, and community through music.

Thank you for making it possible, and for another evening celebrating the power of music. 🎶
