When requested by the Board, represent CSFA at meetings serving as a retirement member advocate liaison. Recruit and retain CSFA members to assist with the various tasks associated with the Retirement Issues Committee, liaison with other CSFA programs and projects such as the Steamer Program, Pipe and Drum and Historical Committees. To regularly survey, respond and communicate the requests of retired members to continue to develop and enhance the “esprit de corps” of the fire service family and the CSFA through researching and recommending benefits, events, activities, outings and teaching . Wanted to thank Steve Slagle (Cal/Fire ret) for his service as the CSFA Retiree Committee Chairperson. Like the chairperson before him Ken Wuchner (LBFD ret) both these men worked tirelessly on behalf of all CSFA retirees with dedication, commitment, and compassion to provide assistance and support to our retiree family! Their remarkable acknowledgements included securing a retiree representative on the board of directors, enhanced a retiree social media outreach, leading committees made up of legends and superstars of the fire service and engaged with numerous departments, agencies and organizations statewide to provide retiree benefit assistance. The CSFA retiree committee delivered in coordination with California OES and FEMA through the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center a social media awareness course (PER-304) that provided instruction to over 75 agencies statewide. Locations for instruction included Ceres, Long Beach, Red Helmet (Rancho Cucamonga), Chowchilla, Costa Mesa, Arcadia, Quincy. The efforts of both these men as retiree committee chairpersons were significant, notable and above commendable. They were leaders, mentors and friends who shared a passion for the fire service and to ensure support for our retirees. Thank you Steve and Ken for your commitment and drive!
Current CSFA Retiree Chairperson Steve Slagle is stepping down and there is a need to fill this position on behalf of our retirees! If you might be interested or want to find out more information about the position reach out to Steve Slagle ([email protected]) or CSFA President Eddie Sell ([email protected]).
