USS Cincinnati Memorial - Peace Pavilion

USS Cincinnati Memorial - Peace Pavilion It is the fourth Navy vessel to bear the name USS Cincinnati. Earlier USS Cincinnati vessels served in the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. Completion in spring, 2025.

The USS Cincinnati Memorial-Peace Pavilion is a unique patriotic, historic, and educational community resource that provides a virtual guided tour of a nuclear-powered submarine and engages students with interactive STEM and Skilled Trade experiences. USS Cincinnati (SSN-693) was a Navy nuclear-powered “fast attack” submarine, commissioned in 1978 and decommissioned in 1995, and served as one of t

he US Navy submarines with a major role in the 50-year Cold War conflict with the USSR. Each of those vessels has been scrapped and has passed into history, but a small surface ship now bears the name. USS Cincinnati was "recycled" in 2012 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard near Seattle, and the conning tower, upper rudder, and Big Red Machine arrived in Cincinnati in 2013 to be incorporated into the USS Cincinnati Memorial-Peace Pavilion at Voice of America Park, to preserve a small piece of Cincinnati’s namesake submarine for future generations.

She's finally home — and the doors are open.
USS Cincinnati Memorial - Peace Pavilion is officially open at Voice of America MetroParks of Butler County in West Chester, Ohio — and we couldn't be more proud to have played a role in making it happen.

For decades, a group of Navy veterans had one dream — bring her home and make sure she was never forgotten. What started as an impossible idea became a nine and a half million dollar landmark. A full-scale replica. Real components from the actual submarine. A permanent piece of American history right here in Southwest Ohio.

The Northern Cincinnati Foundation built the financial foundation behind this dream — the fund structure, the donor strategy, and the permanent endowment that ensures this place thrives for generations to come.

This is what we do. And this is what's possible when a great vision meets the right foundation.

Come see it for yourself. 👇

🎓 The mission doesn't stop at the ribbon cutting.
The STEM education program inside the USS Cincinnati Memorial - Peace Pavilion is how the next generation of engineers, scientists, and sailors gets sparked. Interactive exhibits. Real submarine components. Questions that actually matter.
You can still contribute to the STEM Education Fund and keep that mission alive for every kid who walks through those doors.

The Public Opening of the USS Cincinnati Peace Pavilion at 1pm on Saturday May 16 is now just 4 DAYS AWAY! If you wonder how much submarine veterans have learned to focus on small details, we spent a couple of hours cleaning up a load of goose droppings from the weekend. Then our President herded 6 adults and about 14 babies away from the Pavilion and over to another pond a couple of hundred yards away. So we fixed both the problem and the cause, in true submarine sailor tradition!
