USS Cincinnati Memorial - Peace Pavilion

The USS Cincinnati Peace Pavilion is NOW OPEN every day! Take a self-guided tour of a full size replica of a nuclear-powered submarine. NO FEE EVER!

USS Cincinnati (SSN-693) was a Navy nuclear-powered “fast attack” submarine, commissioned in 1978 and decommissioned in 1995, and served as one of the US Navy submarines with a major role in the 50-year Cold War conflict with the USSR. It is the fourth Navy vessel to bear the name USS Cincinnati.

Earlier USS Cincinnati vessels served in the Civil War, WWI, and WWII. Each of those vessels has been scrapped and has passed into history, but a small surface ship now bears the name. USS Cincinnati was "recycled" in 2012 at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard near Seattle, and the conning tower, upper rudder, and Big Red Machine arrived in Cincinnati in 2013 to be incorporated into the USS Cincinnati Memorial-Peace Pavilion at Voice of America Park, to preserve a small piece of Cincinnati’s namesake submarine for future generations. Completion in spring, 2025.

The USS Cincinnati Peace Pavilion is open once again following the Country Music Fest, 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset. NO FEES EVER, and always FREE PARKING. Take a self-guided tour during the week, or take a guided tour with a submarine veteran tour guide from 12pm-6pm on the weekends.

Because of the Country Music Fest at VOA this weekend, the USS Cincinnati Peace Pavilion is closed until next week after dismantling of the Country Music Festival equipment.

We hosted a group from the Boys and Girls Club of West Chester this afternoon. We had volunteer submarine veterans as tour guides, enough that we could match 1 tour guide with each pair of kids, to make it easy for them to ask lots of questions. They all seem engaged and asked many great questions. We hope to have many different groups of kids come for a similar tour guide experience … scouts, schools, math and science clubs, sports teams, etc.

The USS Cincinnati Peace Pavilion as seen from the VOA National Museum of Broadcasting last night. We’ll have Tour Guides on site from 1:00pm until the fireworks show at the VOA MetroParks tonight. Come celebrate July 4th with Submarine Veterans who are still serving the country by sharing their experience and their expertise by exciting kids to pursue STEM topics in school and future careers.

Several Sub Vet Tour Guides worked at the USS Cincinnati Peace Pavilion this morning, conducting an old fashioned "Field Day". We spruced up the grounds and the plaza, to be ready to welcome many visitors over the July 3-4 "Bash" at Butler County's VOA Metro Parks grounds in West Chester.

We will have Tour Guides on site from 1:00pm to 6:00pm July 3-5, Friday-Sunday, with extended hours until 8:00pm on July 4. There will also be guided tours scheduled every hour from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the VOA National Museum of Broadcasting.

There will be music, food, and fun activities on July 3-4. Come celebrate the nation's 250th birthday at the largest and we think best patriotic pavilion in the greater Cincinnati Tri-State area.
