Weekend in the Life of a Hiker Challenger: Section 3, Day2--The Gorge.
Corner Ridge Road to Whittleton Campground. Filmed March 15th, 2026.

March felt like a "choose your own adventure" section.

This day hikers dropped into the Red River Gorge covering roughly 18-19 miles of trail. They were faced with a decision, "to cross the Red or to road walk?" Comment below if you crossed the river this month. As the sweeper and repeat End-to-Ender (Hi, this is Nimmo) I decided to road walk to Martin's Fork. This was a change of scenery with more technical terrain along the western side of the Rough Trail. Those who took the Boone Hut option were rewarded with stairs.

Weekend in the Life of a Hiker Challenger: Section 3, Day 1, Part 2.
The Red Barn to Corner Ridge Road. Filmed March 14th, 2026.

The road walking begins. Asphlat, dirt, gravel, asphalt, to dirt. This is just a preview of what lies south of Red River Gorge. Road walks are for the birds. They are made better with good company.

Stay tuned for Section 3 Day 2 as we drop into the Red. Arches, river crossings, and scrambles...oh my.

Weekend in the Life of a Hiker Challenger: Section 3, Day 1, Part 1.
Clear Creek to the Red Barn. Filmed March 14th, 2026.

The day started off delayed but fell into place around 10:20am. I would describe this day as a ridgeline walk to the Red Barn before a varied road walk to Corner Ridge Road. Stay tuned for part 2.

Volunteers can come in Thursday night for free camping at Brooks Campground and Store. There will be a hearty breakfast served to volunteers before heading out to the trail area (be at Brooks by 7am ET for breakfast). Volunteers will need to complete waivers for the Park Service and the STA (provided at Brooks) and should be prepared for the weather, wear long pants and shirts. Bring gloves and wear closed toed shoes. Sorry no pets.

Day in the life of a Trail Angel: STA Jeremy Sergant.

Filmed February 22nd, 2026 by Jeremy. The temps kept dropping and the snow fall grew heavier. Thankfully Jeremy Sergant (new STA Board Member) posted up around the mid point of our hiker's day to offer hot chocolates. Thanks for the trail magic! It was a much appreciated pick-me-up on a long cold day.

STA Board Member Spotlight 2026.

Meet Anthony Privett, new board member, 2-time E2Eer, and going for 3 in 2026! Anthony’s day job is sales and he is going to sell you on the awesomeness that is the
Sheltowee Trace!

He’s serving on 3 teams, Membership & Volunteering, Outdoor
Recreation, and Trail Management Teams (Sheltowee Camp ) . He wants to encourage
challengers and thru-hikers alike to reach the E2E goal. His hopes for the
future of the trail? To move more of the trail off roads and into the woods. Also, to
extend it further north and south. High hopes but he believes it is attainable!
