The global diabetes community has lost a remarkable advocate, leader, and friend.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bastian Hauck, founder and CEO of °. Through his vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to people living with diabetes, Bastian helped transform the way lived experience is recognized across diabetes care, research, and policy around the world.

Many of us had the privilege of knowing Bastian through conferences, advocacy efforts, and countless conversations centered on improving life for people affected by diabetes. Whether he was bringing people together, amplifying community voices, or challenging us to think differently, he did so with passion, authenticity, and purpose.

Bastian believed that people living with diabetes deserved to be heard. Because of his work, countless individuals found community, connection, and opportunities to share their experiences in ways that are helping shape the future of diabetes care.

On behalf of everyone at Children with Diabetes, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Bastian's family, friends, colleagues, and the entire ° community.

Thank you, Bastian, for showing up, for speaking up, and for helping others do the same.

Big news for families navigating diabetes care: the FDA has approved Afrezza® for children and adolescents ages 6 and older living with diabetes, making it the first and only inhaled mealtime insulin available for pediatric use.

For kids, teens, and caregivers, mealtime insulin decisions can be shaped by school, sports, snacks, schedules, and everything in between. This approval adds another option to the diabetes toolkit and reflects continued progress toward more individualized care.

🎥 DocuDiabetes is back for Friends for Life Orlando 2026.

Ride through a day with T1D, one minute at a time.

DocuDiabetes gives Fiffles the chance to share a real look at life with type 1 diabetes through a short video, whether it’s funny, emotional, chaotic, inspiring, or somewhere in between. Your story can be anything you want it to be. Just keep it 60 seconds or less.

All submitted videos will be previewed during our Wednesday DocuDiabetes screening hosted by American Idol contestant and fellow T1D, Kevin Covais, where attendees will vote for their favorites. Crowd favorite videos will then be featured at the Friends and Family Banquet.
