A huge congratulations to our West Burlington Falcon Band seniors on their graduation from high school today! Cameron, Gracin, and DeMontrae - thank you all for the outstanding dedication you consistently poured into our band program over the past eight years. They have left a lasting legacy for our underclassmen, instilling a sense of pride and commitment to the band that will see our Falcon bands continue to flourish for many years to come. We will deeply miss each of these fine gentlemen, but we cannot way to see where your wings take you beyond this moment!

Some of our West Burlington High School band members (and Mr. Houseworth) provided the soundtrack to a fierce dance battle at the final assembly of the school year at the elementary building. The band stays busy, even after their last concert is over!

Sophomore Falcon Band member Joseph Murphy has received the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a high school jazz musician by being selected as one of only two tenor saxophones in the state for the Iowa All-State Jazz Band. For the past two days, Joe has rehearsed alongside the best of the best high school jazz musicians in the state, culminating in a sensational performance this afternoon in front of a packed house at the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference in Des Moines under the direction of Dr. Joseph Jefferson, Director of Jazz Ensembles at the prestigious St. Olaf College in Minnesota.

Congratulations, Joe, on creating school history that was 18 years in the making! (Check the comments of this post to hear snippets of the Iowa All-State Jazz Band’s performance from this afternoon. It truly is nothing short of remarkable!)

Instrument Rental Night for 4th graders joining 5th grade band is TONIGHT from 4:00-7:00 pm in the elementary music room! 4th grade students can try out instruments to find the right fit for them, and parents can learn how they can get a quality instrument into their child’s hands before the school year even lets out for the summer!

For all students who participated in the Krispy Kreme Fundraiser, donut pickup will be on Friday, May 15th from 3:25-5:00 pm in the high school auditorium. Donuts MUST be picked up on that day so that they may be delivered as fresh as possible to the patrons who bought from you/your child.

It has come to our attention that there may be students out of town on the 15th due to a variety of reasons from athletics to field trips. Students, if you know that you will be out of town on the afternoon of May 15th, please make arrangements for someone to pick up the donuts on your behalf, be that a parent or other relative.
