Get to know the candidates before you vote.

With the 2026 General Election approaching, now is the time to learn more about the candidates and where they stand on issues that impact Greater Burlington and Southeast Iowa.

On October 14, the Greater Burlington Partnership hosted two Candidate Forums featuring candidates for the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors and Iowa House District 99.

Hosted by the Chamber of Commerce's Government Relations Committee, the forums focused on issues important to our region, including economic development, workforce challenges, housing, property taxes, infrastructure, education, healthcare and more.

Candidates were not provided the questions in advance, giving voters an opportunity to hear their perspectives and responses without prepared answers to specific questions.

Both forums were recorded and are available to watch.

The Greater Burlington Partnership team spent the day with Chris Lee, who led a productive and engaging professional development session on the Working Genius and guided the team on a nature hike. Chris did a fantastic job making the experience meaningful and enjoyable for everyone.

The day was filled with great food, team bonding, and learning what energizes each team member and how to use those strengths to improve collaboration and efficiency.

A big thank you to Chris for a fun day and to the Burlington Area YMCA for letting the team use Camp McBride for the retreat. The beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces overlooking the lake made it the perfect setting.

The team left recharged and ready to continue making a difference across our region!

We have our 2026 Community Cup CHAMPIONS! 🏆

Five weeks of friendly competition, local adventures, and a little stepping outside of comfort zones have officially come to an end.

🥇 SCC Blackhawks on the River – 1,745 points
🥈 Farmers Savings Bank – 989 points
🥉 Southeastern Community College Team 2 – 847 points

Congratulations to our winners!

The Community Cup is definitely about bragging rights. But it's also about getting out and experiencing Greater Burlington. From shopping and dining locally to exploring new places, trying different activities, and giving back to the community, our competitors embraced the challenge. Some even found themselves doing things they might not have tried otherwise, and that's exactly what we love to see!

In just its second year, Community Cup grew to include more teams than last year, and we couldn't be happier with the enthusiasm and feedback from those who participated.

A BIG thank you to all five participating teams, including First Mid Bank & Trust and Menke & Company CPA, for joining in the fun!

The traveling trophy is headed to the SCC Blackhawks on the River! Stay tuned for the official trophy presentation.

Until then, enjoy a few more snapshots from this year's Community Cup adventures!

What a great celebration of manufacturing in Greater Burlington!

Thank you to everyone who joined the Greater Burlington Partnership on Friday for the 2026 Manufacturers Appreciation Luncheon at the Burlington Golf Club.

Congratulations to Afinitas on being named the 2026 Manufacturer of the Year! This recognition celebrates Afinitas’ continued investment, growth, innovation, and impact on manufacturing in our region.

A special thank you to Iowa Workforce Development Executive Director Beth Townsend for joining us as our keynote speaker and sharing an update on Iowa’s workforce.

Thank you to our Premier Sponsor, AIM Credit Union, and Speaker Sponsor, Huffman's Farm and Home, along with all of the businesses that sponsored the event, purchased tables, and supported the luncheon.

We also appreciate the companies that welcomed local West Burlington Independent School District high school students to their tables and took the time to connect with young people interested in their industries. Those conversations help introduce the next generation to the careers and opportunities available right here in Southeast Iowa.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate the businesses, people, and future workforce that keep our region moving forward!
