The GBP team did something new today, and it was so much fun! We held our very first Influencer Mob, and popped into Beckers Jewelers.

Attendees shopped, took pictures, interacted with the sales team and had a good time supporting a local business.

Just in case anyone needs a gift idea - wish lists were created (HINT, HINT). You can create your own wish list, too! Just stop in at Becker’s and they’ll help you put one together.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and joined the mob, and to the team at Becker’s for welcoming us in and being such good sports!

We’ve got the Cash Mob. We’ve got the Lunch Mob. And now we’ve got the Influencer Mob.

What kind of “MOB” will we come up with next? Got any ideas?

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Grow Greater Burlington and City of West Burlington Partner with Deery Brothers to Lay Groundwork for New Housing in West Burlington

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa – Grow Greater Burlington and the City of West Burlington today jointly announced a new partnership with Deery Brothers Inc. to address the growing need for quality housing in West Burlington and the region.

Through an installment sale, Grow Greater Burlington will acquire more than 16 acres from Deery Brothers Inc. east of the company’s West Burlington dealership. The City of West Burlington will install the streets, water, sewer and related infrastructure needed to support Deery Estates, a new subdivision planned for 30 or more single-family homes.

“Grow Greater Burlington has been in the property development business for decades,” said Taylor Collins, Executive Director of Economic Development for the Greater Burlington Partnership. “Today’s announcement represents a strategic shift — expanding beyond industrial development to meet our community’s critical housing needs. I greatly appreciate Deery Brothers and the City of West Burlington for partnering with us on this important initiative.”

“This partnership is a significant step forward for West Burlington and the entire region,” said West Burlington Mayor Ron Teater. “Working together with Grow Greater Burlington and Deery Brothers, we are addressing the demand for quality housing while supporting long-term growth. Creating new housing opportunities will also help welcome more families to West Burlington and support continued growth within the West Burlington Independent School District.”

“Deery Brothers is proud to support this project to bring more housing to Greater Burlington,” said Brad Deery of Deery Brothers Inc. “At Deery Brothers, we believe in investing in the communities where we live and work. This collaboration helps meet a vital local need and strengthens our region’s future.”

The project is expected to advance next spring, with infrastructure work beginning during the next construction season and home construction to follow.

Deery Estates builds on the City of West Burlington’s broader effort to expand housing options across the community. Recent and ongoing projects include a 40-unit apartment complex, a 47-unit senior housing community and a 19-home single-family workforce housing development on Pennington Street. The City of West Burlington is also working with another developer on two proposed workforce housing tax credit projects: a 22-unit townhome development and a 28-unit apartment complex. Together, these efforts reflect a strategy to support a range of housing needs and create more opportunities for individuals and families to call West Burlington home.

This month's edition of The Partnership Newsletter featuers the Ground Breaking on IAAAP Future Artillery Complex. U.S. Army leaders, Governor Kim Reynolds, and industry partners gathered at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for a groundbreaking ceremony launching the Future Artillery Complex project, in August.

This $635 million project will create one of the world’s most modern explosive load, assemble, and pack facilities dedicated to 155mm artillery shells. The new complex
replaces aging World War II-era production lines and incorporates advanced automation, robotics, and safety systems.

Once complete, the facility is designed to load up to 36,000 rounds per month, helping the Army reach its broader goal of 100,000 155mm shells monthly across
the industrial base. Spanning more than 200 acres with multiple new buildings, it strengthens IAAAP’s vital role under the Joint Munitions Command.

The ceremony marks a major milestone in modernizing U.S. munitions production to meet the demands of American and allied forces for decades to come.

It's Double New Member Monday!

We’re continuing this week’s New Member Monday by welcoming the Lonnie Winston Memorial Scholarship to the Greater Burlington Chamber of Commerce!

Established in 2023 in partnership with ALL PONO, the scholarship honors the life and legacy of Lonnie Winston, whose passion for athletics, mentorship, and personal excellence made a lasting impact on our community.

Today, the scholarship continues Lonnie’s commitment to helping student-athletes pursue their education, grow as leaders, and achieve excellence. Through community support, the organization awards $5,000 in scholarships annually to three young men who reflect the values Lonnie lived every day: perseverance, integrity, gratitude, and service.

Please join us in welcoming the Lonnie Winston Memorial Scholarship to the Chamber!
