May. Brain Cancer Awareness month. Reid's birthday month. We’re going gray to honor our sweet Reid and every child and family impacted by brain cancer. 🎗️
Brain cancer is the deadliest form of childhood cancer, yet it receives only a fraction of the dismal funding that is dedicated for pediatric cancer research. It’s not enough. Repurposed adult treatments are not enough. Our kids deserve better.
Reid would be celebrating his star birthday this month — 11 on the 11th. That milestone is yet another heartbreaking reality for us. The what-ifs never end. Big brother. Our first love. He deserved so much more. He deserved a childhood. He deserved to grow up.
What we ask of you this month is simple: take action for kids.🎗️
• Share Reid’s story. Start a conversation about pediatric brain cancer.
• Donate blood if you’re able. We have Reid's birthday blood drive coming up on May 6th at St. Ambrose University.
• Speak up.
Right now in Iowa, there is a real opportunity to fund pediatric cancer research — including brain cancer. This funding would be a big step forward, because right now there is little to no dedicated state funding for pediatric cancer research in Iowa.
Both the House and Senate support investing $3 million, but they have proposed different ways to fund it. Until they come to an agreement, this critical funding won’t reach the kids who need it.
If you’re willing to help, please send a brief, respectful email urging them to come together and make this happen:

Our kids can’t wait.
For Reid. 💛 For Oliver. 💚 For ALL the kids. 💛
