Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County TX We are a group of christian volunteers working to eliminate poverty housing in Ellis County one home & one family at a time.

Together, we’re building more than houses — we’re building community and hope. Friday and Saturday prior to Thanksgiving each year Habitat for Humanity of Ellis County will host the Festival of Trees to Celebrate the Holiday Season. The Festival of Trees will serve to bring awareness of Habitat for Humanity- Ellis County and raise funds to meet the need for housing in Ellis County. Habitat for hum

anity International's Corporate Sponsorship program challenges corporations to work with us to ensure that all people have decent, affordable shelter. Corporate partnerships and local partnerships address the problem of poverty housing, providing a positive solution and offering a wealth of benefits to corporations, including tax deductions, high-voltage public relations and a permanent positive effect on company morale. On a Habitat build, united in the goal of helping those in need, employees at every level get to see each other at their best. It's an opportunity to grow, to bond and to experience the GOOD that get carried back to the workplace. There are numerous ways to form a partnership with Habitat, whether through product donations, financial support, mobilizing employees as Habitat volunteers or a combination of theses possibilities. We had a truly enjoyable afternoon at The Hamilton at Garden Valley - 55+ Apartments, where they host a local non-profit organization every third Thursday for BINGO. All proceeds from the event go directly to the non-profit. We were thrilled to participate and had a fantastic time. The funds raised will help us make a positive impact in our community through our 2026 build or by addressing Aging in Place requests. Many thanks to the generous residents, friends and The Hamilton staff for their support. We appreciate their commitment to having fun while giving back to the community. Afterwards, we continued our social time with dinner at Cotton Patch.

As a cherished tradition, we design a Fiesta tree almost every year, which the community eagerly anticipates. This year's tree promises to be the most visually stunning yet, showcasing rich Latino culture through vibrant colors, handmade felt ornaments, and fiber optic lighting. It's truly a showstopper. When you participate in any of our fundraisers you are helping your neighbors. Some people believe we “give away” houses. Keep reading to understand a little more about our affordable housing program.

We hold the mortgage with a zero % mortgage over 20 years, saving our home owners thousands of dollars over the life of the loan. This helps them to afford the taxes & insurance keeping the loan as affordable as possible.

1. Financing and MortgagesTraditional Home: Buyers apply for conventional or FHA loans through a private bank, with mortgage interest rates currently reflecting standard market rates (often ranging between 6% to 7%). The purchase is strictly a financial transaction between the buyer and the lender.Habitat Home: Habitat acts as the lender, offering affordable mortgages designed so the buyer pays no more than 30% of their gross household income toward housing. These loans carry 0% interest.

Our Festival of Trees committee is diligently preparing for the November event. The Nutcracker tree and the Fiesta tree are two of the projects we have been working on, and both are expected to be exceptional. Additionally, we have been collecting decor for our float at the Crepe Myrtle Festival in Waxahachie on the 4th of July. Following our 1st Place win last year, we are striving for a repeat win this year.

A message from our Faith Relations Committee:

At Habitat for Humanity, we believe that safe, affordable housing changes lives, strengthens families, and builds stronger communities. Every home built represents stability for children, renewed hope for parents, and the opportunity for a family to create a brighter future.
We are reaching out to invite all Ellis County churches to become valued ministry partners in this mission. Together, we can put faith into action by helping local families achieve the dream of homeownership through volunteer service, financial support, prayer, and community encouragement. We can increase our ability to help those with critical household repairs through our Aging in Place and Brush with Kindness programs.
