Rotary Club of Waupaca

Rotary Club of Waupaca The Waupaca Rotary Club is one of 34,000 clubs that make up Rotary International. The core of our local club’s mission is to enhance education in our community.

The Rotary Club of Waupaca is a vibrant organization with over 90 members who represent different backgrounds, vocations, and perspectives, but who share a common commitment to serving others in our community and around the world. We are committed to raising the standard of living in our community and around the world through service activities implemented by dedicated professionals devoted to the

motto, “service above self.” We are community leaders with the passion and ability to get things done. Just last year we funded a number of projects developed by teachers in our local schools that will expand a broad range of learning opportunities.

There's a reason the term "Lifeblood" has meaning. Give if you can, you never know who you're gonna help.

On Wednesday, we were joined by two Short-Term Rotary Youth Exchange students from Finland and their Waupaca host families. The exchange students will be here for about a month, and then the host students will travel to Finland to stay with their families.

Youth exchange is a terrific way to build cultural understanding which is foundational to world peace. If you see the exchange students out and about, give them a warm Waupaca welcome!

UDDERLY TERRIFIC use of a Rotary Education Grant!

About 150 Waupaca High School students take agriculture classes.
The department received a Rotary education grant for a bovine milking udder simulator that allowed student hands-on opportunities to learn proper udder care, milk diseases, infection treatment and prevention, plus a variety of other milking activities.

In addition, the high School agriculture students provide 4th graders a hands-on milking opportunity using the simulator at their annual "Day on the Farm" held at Whitetail Dairy - an event that provides the students a true Wisconsin Dairy Farm experience.

Another great example of teachers thinking about how to make learning more experiential, relevant, and fun. We're proud to be part of education innovation in our schools.

For the past three years, our club has made a donation to the Guatemala Literacy Project (GLP). The video below (a movie trailer) gives you a sense of the transformative power of this wonderful program which received nearly $500,000 of support from Rotary clubs and Rotary International matching grants last year.

Since the program began in 1997, GLP has served 312,000 students by: 1) training teachers in reading instruction and providing them with quality children's literature; 2) providing textbooks in a range of subjects; 3) technology training focused on skills for employment; and 4) scholarship programs.
