We greatly appreciate the generosity of the Watertown Savings Bank employees for conducting a garage sale that benefited Literacy of Northern NY and local food pantries.

WSB’s Marnie O’Connor presents a check to Cecelia Brock, Director of Literacy of NNY. Proceeds were from the recent WSB garage sale.

Sometimes, it is fun to go on a field trip adventure. Fara, who is an advanced ESL student as well as a tutor in Lowville, went with Deborah to experience New York along the St. Lawrence River. They went to the Frederick Re*****on Art Museum in Ogdensburg, toured Ogdensburg, then explored Kring Point State Park.

Thanks to a $20,000 grant from United Way of NNY for 2026, and funding from the NYS Education Department, we are able to offer free ESL classes and one-to-one tutoring to adults who need help with reading, writing, math, and English as a second language. We help adults improve literacy skills so they can obtain jobs, get better jobs, pass work-related exams, and become more active participants in our community.
