🍁🍂 Autumn has certainly made its presence known here at the Paddock Mansion!

As the seasons change, the grounds are covered in beautiful shades of gold, orange, and yellow. It's such a lovely time of year to visit!

And while you're here, don't forget that the North Country Arts Council's 78th Annual Fall Art Show is currently on display, and many pieces for sale, through November 14th.

Admission is FREE!

Stop by and enjoy a little history, art, and autumn scenery. 🍂

This well-known photograph was taken on July 31, 1974 by American photographer Steven Shore, as part of his landmark series Uncommon Places. Shore spent mid-1974 traveling across the United States photographing small towns and cities, and took photos in Watertown over two days, July 31 and August 1, funded by a National Endowment for the Arts endowment. His book, Uncommon Places, was published later in 1982, the year he became director of the photography department at Bard College.

🎨 The 2026 Fall Art Show is officially underway!

The Jefferson County Historical Society is excited to welcome the North Country Arts Council's 78th Annual Juried Fall Art Show to the historic Paddock Mansion!

After days of preparation, we're looking forward to celebrating the incredible talent of our local and regional artists at tonight's official opening reception!

Can't make it tonight? The exhibition will be FREE and open to the public during regular museum hours from October 24 through November 14!

Come explore the beautiful artwork on display while enjoying the historic surroundings of the Paddock Mansion. We hope to see you there!

Get ready for an amazing evening as the North Country Arts Council's 78th Annual Juried Fall Art Show opens this Friday, October 23rd, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM!

Join us for the Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony at the historic Paddock Mansion on Washington Street in Watertown.

Discover incredible art, celebrate our talented artists, and be inspired!
The full collection will be available for viewing October 23 through November 14, with selected artwork for sale!

Admission is free; however, a donation to the Jefferson County Historical Society, Watertown, New York is greatly appreciated.

As we prepare the Paddock Mansion for the upcoming 78th Annual North Country Juried Art Show, the museum will be closed to the public Monday, October 19, and Friday, October 23, to allow time for preparations and exhibit setup.

We will reopen on the evening of Friday, October 23, for the official opening of the art show!

Regular museum hours will resume on Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM to 4 PM, with FREE admission for everyone to enjoy the artwork on display!

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare for this wonderful exhibition. We look forward to welcoming you!

🎨 The 78th Annual Juried Art Show is underway!

We are excited to welcome the remarkable works of art submitted by talented artists for this year's show!

The official opening takes place on Friday, October 23rd, 5 to 7pm, at the historic Paddock Mansion!

The exhibition will remain on display FREE and open to the public during regular museum hours!

We look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy the incredible creativity and talent on display at the Jefferson County Historical Society!

The hydrangeas behind the museum have been looking especially beautiful the past couple weeks, with their soft shades of pink and green glowing in the afternoon sunshine.

Sometimes it's the little things that make the grounds of the Jefferson County Historical Society such a lovely place to be, especially this time of year!

The museum will be opening at 12 PM today instead of our usual 10 AM.

Last night's Paranormal Investigation at the Paddock Mansion was a great success, but it was also a very late night for our staff!
