Stage Notes began in 2009 out of a desire to teach our students that their talents can make a difference in our community. Fourteen musicals later, Stage Notes has donated over $50,000 to local organizations and continues to provide students with rich theatrical experiences, as well as life lessons in philanthropy. As we enter our second decade of Performance with a Purpose, we vow to continue adv
ocating for and promoting the arts in the North Country. Stage Notes charitable foundation was created in partnership with The Northern New York Community Foundation. Through this partnership, Stage Notes has formalized our community grant making and also provided donors with the opportunity to make tax-deductible gifts to support our work and mission. “Stage Notes is committed to a long-term relationship of supporting the needs of our community. What better way to ensure performances with a purpose than to partner with the Northern New York Community Foundation? We respect their commitment of connecting donors who care with causes that matter,” said Michele Glover, Stage Notes board president. Two funds have been established at the Community Foundation, one for grant making and one to help build a permanent endowment fund. “We are honored that a group so committed to giving back is now an official member of our family of partners,” said Rande Richardson, Community Foundation executive director. Anyone interested in learning more about supporting Stage Notes through our established funds, can contact Mr. Richardson at (315) 782-7110. In living our motto, Performance with a Purpose, The Stage Notes Foundation has proudly contributed to organizations in our community such as The Heather A. Freeman Foundation, The Delaney Bay Fund, The Watertown Urban Mission, The WPBS/TV Endowment Fund, and the Community Spirit Youth Giving Challenge through the Northern New York Community Foundation. We have proudly supported five local performing arts scholarships, providing assistance to the aspiring performers in our community as they pursue their dreams. In addition, we have made donations to the Watertown High School Wind Ensemble, the Watertown High School AV Club, the Friends of Farm Memorial Golf Tournament which benefits the Patrick R. Farmer Scholarship of the Arts, the Dionysian Players at Jefferson Community College, Paws4Potter, the Antwerp Food Pantry, the Malawi Early Literacy Team, The Safe Schools Endeavor, The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York, and the Italian American Civic Association’s capital campaign. We make an annual commitment to The Watertown Urban Mission by collecting school supplies for their backpack program at all of our productions.
