Boldt Castle Receives Historic Steinway Grand Piano Donation from Jim and Susan Nelson

ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. — The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority is pleased to announce the generous donation of a Steinway & Sons Model A Grand Piano to Boldt Castle by Jim and Susan Nelson.

Manufactured in 1878, the piano is a remarkable example of nineteenth-century craftsmanship. Professionally rebuilt approximately 20 years ago, the instrument features a high-gloss rosewood finish, original ivory keytops, and remains in good playing condition.

"We are incredibly grateful to Jim and Susan Nelson for this generous gift," said Keri Jobson, Director of Boldt Facilities. "The piano dates to the same era as George Boldt's rise to prominence and the period in which the Castle was envisioned. It provides a unique connection to the music and culture of the late nineteenth century."

The piano is on display in the Ballroom at Boldt Castle and will occasionally be performed on by qualified musicians, giving guests the opportunity to experience both its beauty and its sound.

The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority extends its sincere appreciation to Jim and Susan Nelson for helping preserve and share this extraordinary instrument with future generations.

Boldt Castle is open to visitors seven days a week from Mother’s Day weekend through Columbus Day, offering guests the opportunity to explore one of the Thousand Islands’ most iconic landmarks. For detailed information on hours of operation, admission, and the fascinating history of the castle and its grounds, please visit www.boldtcastle.com.

We couldn't miss the Grand Opening of the Gallery of The Blue Frog in Lowville this past weekend! 🐸 💙

The space is stunning — beautiful ceramics, stained glass, watercolors, sculpture, and so much more, all housed in a gorgeous brick-walled gallery.

We stopped in to show some love and soak up the creative energy, watch an amazing stained glass demo with Andrea and caught up with past Fall Art Show Best in Show artist Loretta Lepkowski.

Check out their upcoming events and stop in for some delicious noms at Saint Drogo’s Coffee & Bake House while you're there!

Stop in and see what their artisans have to offer!
