VFW Post 1623 in Waterloo has officially shut its doors, but the VFW Department of Iowa's State Adjutant says several steps were taken to prevent the closure.

It's a sad day. But after a long financial struggle the Waterloo VFW post is standing down and ending their watch. The State VFW has taken ownership and will see to the respectful liquidation of Post assets.
