Lynette’s favorite part about Iowa Heartland Habitat is seeing neighborhoods transformed and watching the homeownership program help participants gain confidence in becoming homeowners. 🏡 One mission moment that stands out to her was volunteering on a build day alongside a homebuyer. 💙

If Lynette were an item at the ReStore, she would be a comfortable chair—providing comfort and encouraging conversation with those around her. 🪑 Outside of Iowa Heartland Habitat, Lynette enjoys traveling with friends. ✈️ and renovating houses to create new spaces. 🔨

This role supports Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity’s outreach efforts across neighborhoods and rural communities through relationship-building, coordination, communication, and implementation. At Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity, outreach means more than promoting programs. Outreach is the intentional work of building trusted relationships, listening to community priorities, connecting people and partners to opportunities, and helping strengthen neighborhoods and rural communities over time. The Community Outreach Coordinator helps turn strategy into action by supporting community engagement, strengthening local partnerships, and helping residents connect with programs and opportunities.

Candy Nardini is a Board Member at Iowa Heartland Habitat. After supporting Iowa Heartland Habitat for several years alongside her husband and participating in Women Build since 2019, she was honored to join the board because of her strong belief in the mission and vision. 🤝

Candy’s favorite part about Iowa Heartland Habitat is seeing the momentum of new builds, renovations, the ReStore, and the growth of HomeLab. 🏡 She especially loves hearing homebuyers’ stories and seeing them receive the keys to their homes. 🔑 Working alongside families on-site has also led to meaningful friendships along the way.

If Candy were a tool, she would be a level—bringing balance, fairness, accuracy, and excellence to everything she does. 📏 Outside of Iowa Heartland Habitat, Candy enjoys shopping. 🛍️, decorating. ✨, biking. 🚴, spending time with family and friends. ❤️, and supporting nonprofits that serve U.S. veterans.

Meet Ashley, one of our partnering homebuyers 💚 We’re so proud to have her in our homeownership program and grateful she shared her story with us! Ashley's home will be built by John Deere volunteers.

This week, more than 1,200 John Deere employees across six Iowa facilities are helping build homes for local families through panel builds, on-site construction, and Habitat ReStore projects.

For the first time, Habitat affiliates across Iowa are partnering together to build homes in Des Moines, the Quad Cities, Waterloo, and Dubuque at the same time. 🏡

We’ll be sharing updates along the way, so stay tuned to follow this incredible partnership in action!
