The 480-481 Area Local membership has endorsed for their respective offices:

Jocelyn benson for Governor of Michigan
Abdul El-Sayed for Senator for the great state of Michigan.

Early voting for the mid-term election is currently underway and we encourage all of our members to review our endorsement then get to the poll and cast your ballots.

Early voting ends Sunday November 1st, 2026. voting for the mid-term elections opens again Tuesday November 3rd, 2026.

We recently met with Senator Peters staff, we have also learned the OIG is currently conducting an investigation regarding the horrible tragedy in Allen Park and Senator Peters staff said they will alert the OIG about this most recent callous disregard for an employees safety.

Management at the Pontiac Michigan Metroplex recently endangered the safety and well being of a mechanic by trying to start a parcel sorting machine while the employee was inside of the machine making repairs.

In response the 480-481 Area Local called OSHA and we made contact with Representatives Dingell, Tlaib and Stevens.

We thank them for their quick response to our concerns and we will work with them all to ensure the managers who did this are held accountable and that it never happens again.

OSHA wasted no time coming to the facility to see for themselves what happened.

This letter is regarding workplace safety concerns at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Michigan Metroplex P&DC in Pontiac, Michigan. We are concerned by the reports of unsafe practices at this facility and across Southeast Michigan.
