Our ELEVENTH annual Angel Kisses Fundraiser is scheduled for February 8th, 2020 at WAB - Woodward Avenue Brewers from 3-7 pm. More details and event invite coming your way.

Our SECOND annual Guns and Hoses event is schedule for February 15, 2020 Multi Lakes Conservation Association from 10-6. Lots more information and event invite coming your way.

Clinical Research Opportunity Available!

PLIDA would like to pass along a clinical research study, which has been reviewed and approved by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Institutional Review Board (IRB) and the Dissertation Committee. Please review the below requirements to participate if interested.

Have you or someone you know experienced the loss
of an unborn baby or newborn?

I am recruiting women who identify as African American or Black for a research study to help health care providers understand how the loss of an unborn baby or newborn may affect how women bond with their baby when they get pregnant again.

You will receive a $25 Target gift card for participating in this study to “thank you” for sharing your experiences.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
African American or Black women age 18 years or older who:
* Have had one or more losses due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or within the first 28 days after being
born
* Are currently pregnant or have given birth to a live child within the past five years
* Able to speak and read English
* Live in Genesee, Lapeer, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Shiawassee, St. Clair,
Washtenaw or Wayne County in Michigan

WHAT DOES THE STUDY INVOLVE?
You will be asked to talk with the researcher, face-to-face, at a place that you choose. The in-person interview will be confidential and may last up to 2-3 hours. If you are interested in participating in this study, or would like more information, please:

Grief is a sneaky... Eleven years ago today we sat in a sterile room in the hospital and were told our boys’ had died. It took me a long time and a lot of therapy to realize it was okay to not move on but instead to move forward with them as a guide. I have learned to navigate grief most of the time. It’s no longer full days that I am lost in grief but rather moments of grief. This video popped up from a friend today (thanks Hollie). It put me right back to the day my boys’ died; the smells, the sounds, the carpet pattern, the cadence in the doctor’s voice and that overwhelming feeling of nothing (which I now know as loss). I had my moment and after my moment of ugly tears; I am happy. I am happy for the person I am today because of the brief time I spent with them. Grief is sneaky... Tristen and Theodore would be turning 11 this year.

I am sharing this video because I know a lot of families are at different stages and years of their grief and it may seem like there’s not a light at the end of tunnel, but there is... grief doesn’t go away, it does however get easier to navigate.
